Our multimedia room at Soli-Deo-Gloria Care Centre Lydenburg is coming along nicely. The network was installed last week. Today the security cameras and motion sensor lights.

Next week we are expecting the delivery of our desktop computers, laptops and tablets.

Then we will be ready to give the children of the homeless families who live in our care centre access to computers and the internet. Something they have never had before.

Last week, children were already taking lessons in our early education room.

Thanks to the of Switzerland in South Africa for making this project possible.

If there are any robotics or IT teachers who would like to volunteer their time to give these children a future, it would be great to hear from you.

What wonderful people there are in South Africa.

Today I had the privilege of meeting Kalie Kriel from AfriForum and Jacquelene Friedenthal from the Swiss Embassy in Pretoria.

We had a great discussion about development in South Africa and how we can work together on projects.
What we did not know about Afriforum is that they support many small local farmers in the countryside with better farming methods and financial assistance.

We then took a tour of the Sol-Tech Skills Development College in Pretoria. I was amazed at the extensive course programmes they have with over 1300 students learning different skills to gain a vocational diploma.
Sol-Tech has 8 main skills development courses but will soon be adding hairdressing and IT to their portfolio.

Last day and last meetings in South Africa before going back to Europe.
This is still an amazing country with amazing people.

Swiss 4 Africa is proud to announce that one of our self-sustainability projects is being sponsored by the Swiss Embassy in South Africa.
We will be building a multimedia/homework and early education centre for a group of homeless minority people who receive no funding from the SA government or international aid agencies.

Our multimedia room will give the schoolchildren access to computers and the internet, access they did not have before to do their homework or become computer literate.

We will provide early education opportunities for pre-school children to prepare them for the challenges of mainstream schooling. Together with national and international partners, we will teach mothers how to help their preschool children develop skills that were previously unavailable to them.
The preschool children will receive healthy meals with supplements to improve their brain function and physical development.

This centre will also be used to retrain adults in computer literacy and essential office skills to enable them to re-enter the workforce.

It was a great week in South Africa, where I had the opportunity to meet inspiring individuals who are making a positive impact on the world.

On Monday afternoon, I visited the warehouse and packing facility of Rise Against Hunger Africa with Brian Nell.
Rise Against Hunger is a global organization that aims to eradicate hunger and malnutrition worldwide.
Raise Against Hunger SA has a programme to provide young children in impoverished communities with much-needed nutrition to prevent stunting. We discussed how we could help the two communities supported by Swiss4Afrika with these packs. We support their focus on combining good nutrition with education.

I had the privilege of visiting the The Swiss Hotel School South Africa and discussing ways in which the SHSSA can assist us in training the next generation of hospitality students.

I had the privilege of meeting Miss Dineo Mahasha, Managing Director of Reel Gardening who does amazing work in helping poor communities plant and grow their own vegetables. Reel Life's patented seed tape kits enable anyone to start a growing journey with a simple, technology-driven process that takes them from seed to harvest in a step-by-step manner, increasing the chances of success with limited resources.

I had an afternoon session with Brent Hutcheson from Care for Education. It was an almost life-changing experience. Brent's enthusiasm and passion for their mission was inspiring.
Care for Education provides training and educational resources to children, schools, and organizations in need. Swiss4Afrika aims to impact early childhood development and primary education by using concrete manipulatives that engage children in playful learning.

Yesterday, I met with the Embassy of Switzerland in South Africa to inform them about Swiss4Afrika's mission and goals. I am excited about the possibility of collaboration projects between Swiss4Afrika and The Swiss Embassy in SA.

My final meeting yesterday was with Solidarity's Helping Hands. Solidarity Helping Hand aims to promote self-development within communities and the development of the community as a whole through socially based community development.

Reflecting on my two-day meeting with these inspiring individuals, I am convinced that we can make a difference by doing one good deed for someone every day.
I am grateful for people like Brian, Dineo, and Brent who demonstrate that humanity is not lost and that superheroes do not always wear capes.
