LAUNCHING NEW LACTIDE PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY ♻️

We are proud to share news of Sulzer Chemtech's latest product launch - SULAC™ - a process solution for lactide production that further enhances our leadership in biopolymers and circularity.

™ completes Sulzer’s portfolio of licensed technologies for the manufacture of polylactic acid ( ), an eco-friendly bioplastic. The licensed technology supports the conversion of lactic acid into , which is both needed to produce PLA and limited by current availability 🏭

REDIRECTING STORM WATER 🌧

Check out this impressive rainwater pumping station solution recently installed in Denmark to help manage rising water levels due to storms 💧

This state-of-the-art is designed to lift storm water flow 3 meters while redirecting it some 300m to a nearby lake. By pumping the water into the lake, we minimize the risk of overflows and significantly reduce the strain on the sewer systems 🚧💪

Sulzer is launching a new polyester often used in the packaging, textile, agricultural and horticultural industries.

Back in 2007, Sunil joined the team at our Technical Research Center in Mumbai. Three years later, he moved to Order Related Engineering (ORE). AIN’T NO MOUNTAIN TOO HIGH FOR A SULZER PUMP 🏔️

Norway's challenging mountainous terrain poses a unique problem for engineers. With no flat or downhill route available between communities and the wastewater treatment facilities that serve them, reliable infrastructure requires some creative thinking 💡

Our innovative conquered a 55-meter hill utilizing small diameter pressurized pipes as well as our submersible grinder pumps, installing a wastewater system at half the cost that was originally expected 👷‍♀️🔧

SULZER RAISES CHF 100'000 FOR UNICEF 🙌

Today, on World Children's Day, we are proud to announce that has raised CHF 100'000 for UNICEF to help improve children's well-being 💙

For 40 days over the past two months, our around the world took part in various sports activities, engaging in a company-wide challenge to stay fit, have fun and do good at the same time 🚴‍♀️⛹️‍♀️🤸‍♂️🧘‍♂️🏋️‍♀️

The challenge was part of the initiative to promote the physical and mental well-being of our employees. The raised funds will be used to support the well-being of children in Syria and Türkiye who were affected by the severe earthquakes in February 2023.

ENABLING CIRCULAR GAS PRODUCTION IN THE ALPS ♻️

Sulzer’s technologies are being leveraged by , the world's largest privately owned industrial gas specialist, in collaboration with a manufacturer of inorganic chemicals to enable innovative carbon capture and utilization ( ) at a plant in Landeck, Austria 🏭🍃

The CO2 capture unit will rely on Sulzer Chemtech’s carbon capture technology to capture more than 50,000 tons of CO2 per year, which will be re-used in the food & beverage industry and by other companies from nearby regions ⛰️

FIGHTING CANCER THROUGH PLASTIC RECYCLING 👐

Supporting the fight against child cancer, armed with the cap of a plastic bottle? Here's how ⬇️

has collected 155kg of plastic caps to be delivered to Banco de Tapitas A.C., a non-profit organization that collects, stores and recycles plastic caps with the aim of generating diverse resources to support programs for children 🎗️

For the second year in a row, our have proven their dedication to the cause by collecting plastic caps in the "S"-shaped bins made from leftover materials at our plants. This year's final load – as heavy as a baby elephant – has recently been delivered to for recycling ♻️

ROBUST GROWTH IN ORDER INTAKE ☑️

’s order intake amounted to CHF 2.805 billion in the first nine months of 2023, on which the strengthening of the Swiss Franc had a negative impact of CHF 0.2 billion. Hence, in local currencies (i.e., adjusted for acquisition / disposal effects), order intake amounts to above CHF 3.0 billion 📈

In local currencies (see above), the order intake growth represents an increase of 18.0% compared to the same period one year ago. All three business divisions contributed double-digit growth to Sulzer’s order intake in 2023 🔧🔬

SCALABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY STORAGE ♻️

We are thrilled to contribute to the world's first pilot plant for in molten hydroxide salts 🔌

Sulzer and expertise has been selected by an industrial research consortium for a pilot plant intended to validate the commercial viability of storing renewable energy in molten hydroxide salts. Situated in Esbjerg, Denmark, the Molten Salts Storage ( ) plant is being built for scalability to ultimately permit a storage capacity of one Gigawatt hour (GWh). This allows the system to store the equivalent daily electricity consumption of some 73’000 Swiss homes, which ultimately provides stability for the grid. At this capacity, the plant is projected to deliver annual CO2 savings of 32’000 tonnes per GWh of capacity 🏭 🇩🇰

Dolores Alvarez joined as an Intern in 2012 after completing her degree in Chemical Engineering at the Universities of Sevilla (Spain) and Swansea (U.K.), where she completed an exchange year through the program. She spent five years working in research and development before moving to applications, and is now a Senior Application Manager 👩‍🔬🙎

Dolores enjoyed developing her strong technical knowledge base while working with in the lab, but she also wanted to interact with customers and understand their needs. The move to applications wasn't an easy transition for her, but says the combination of technical and commercial aspects is precisely what she enjoys most now 🔬

COLLABORATING WITH ANDRITZ TO MAKE BIOMETHANOL 💚 🇫🇮

We are thrilled to be collaborating with ANDRITZ to support production of 12’000 tons of per year at the world largest plant in Finland 🏭

Sulzer and have been selected to enable biomethanol production at the new Veolia plant in Äänekoski, Finland. The separation technology will be integrated with ANDRITZ’s biomethanol purification concept. Veolia will utilize the purification solution to convert raw pulp mill waste into commercial grade biomethanol suitable for a range of industries such as the transportation and chemical sectors. 🌳

RESTORING ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE 🏭 🇮🇩

recently performed critical repairs on a completely failed 100-year-old 5MW in to both restore the renewable energy supply to the local community and wider grid and reduce expected downtime for the customer by seven months 🛠️

Services' team of local experts drew on the support of our global network to implement the innovative repair that delivered a total of some 2.15 million CHF in added uptime and saved replacement costs 👷

Barry Davies joined 16 years ago at our site in Aberdeen, Scotland, following a chance encounter that brought him into the Oil & Gas industry. He is now the Operations Manager of our Dubai facility 🌐

For Barry, things can and do change in an instance, and he believes the key to a successful career is to be flexible and learn how to adapt. After joining Sulzer in 2007 as , Barry serviced rigs in the North Sea for seven years before changing companies to gain experience with other rotating equipment. He returned to Sulzer in 2019, again based in Aberdeen, but was often required to travel to the Middle East for commissioning and overhaul activities – which is where he learned how to large teams on customer sites 🦾

We are delighted to support Raízen, Brazil’s largest producer of ethanol from biomass feedstock, as a supplier for their new second-generation ethanol (E2G) processing facilities. We are providing a range of pumps that will process the raw materials for their renewable biofuel production at three new facilities 🏭

Made with from Raizen’s conventional bioethanol production, E2G production has potential to increase efficiency by up to 50% while reducing emissions 🌾⛽
