A little late, but worth the wait: Here is a summary of our weekend at the Plesner Pre-Moot in Copenhagen. Participating in this great event, competing against many talented teams and encountering skilled arbitrators was an honour. Receiving the prize for the best team in the competition was just the cherry on top of this wonderful experience! Thank you, !
Last week, our team took part in the IDRC Pre-Moot in London. We had great pleadings with our colleagues from all over the world, enjoyed meeting the other teams and concluded the weekend with some sightseeing in this vibrant city. Many thanks to all the arbitrators and organizers of this exciting event!
While we are waiting for our flight back home from the London Pre-Moot we took a moment to reflect on the past weeks. It was such an intense time, but we grew so much individually and as a team!
Again, thank you to all the law firms and organizers of test-runs who held practice rounds with us, which allowed us to improve so quickly.
Now we are excited for the upcoming pre-moots and the second round of law-firm pleadings before Vienna!
Team Bern looks back on a very instructive and interesting week at the Vis Moot School Switzerland๐๐จ๐ญ Not only did we learn a lot about the CISG, arbitration and advocacy, but we also enjoyed getting to know all the other teams and starting into this moot journey together๐ค๐ฅฐ

Our Story
The Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (also known as "Vienna Moot Court") is a competition for law students with over 300 participating universities worldwide. The University of Bern has participated with a team consisting of about six students for several years. The language of the Moot is English.
The goal of the Vienna Moot Court is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes. Law leaders of tomorrow will be trained to tackle a practically relevant problem of a client engaged in international commerce. The Moot involves a dispute arising out of a contract of sale between two countries that are party to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The contract provides that any dispute that might arise is to be settled by arbitration in Danubia, a country that has enacted the UNICTRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration and is a party to the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. The arbitral rules to be applied rotate yearly among the arbitrations rules of co-sponsors of the Moot.
