Siselabonga ist ein hybrides Kollektiv, das Musik aus West- und Südafrika mit okzidentalen Sounds aggregieren lässt. Halb organisch, halb synthetisch werden «Worldmusic-Klischees» umschifft und die Zuhörer*innen lustvoll in tanzbare Gefilde entführt. Ihr Sound lässt sich irgendwo zwischen Afro, Pop und Kwaito lokalisieren. Siselabonga ist ein Neologismus, fusioniert aus dem französischen Begriff «si c’est bon» und dem Zulu-Wort «siyabonga» (Danke) und repräsentiert Freude und Dankbarkeit. Am ersten Konzertabend macht Siselabonga den Auftakt der Hauptkonzerte der Afro-Pfingsten 2023 im Salzhaus. Siselabonga is a hybrid collective that aggregates music from West and South Africa with occidental sounds. Half organic, half synthetic, they bypass "world music clichés" and transport listeners into danceable realms with a sense of relish. Their sound can be located somewhere between Afro, Pop and Kwaito. Siselabonga is a neologism fused from the French term "si c'est bon" and the Zulu word "siyabonga" (thank you) and represents joy and gratitude.
