Ahead of the Global Refugee Forum, due to take place in Geneva from 13 to 15 December, YALI Sports Africa has made a commitment to the Multistakeholder Pledge on Sport for Inclusion and Protection of Refugees.

🤝 Our commitment:
YALI Sports Africa strongly recognizes the positive role plays in the context of forced displacement. By this, we are pleased to support the Joint Pledge on Sport for Inclusion and Protection. With this commitment, we express our intent to support the Sport for Refugees Coalition (SfRC) by advancing capacity-building opportunities for personal development in the area of life skill education, mental well-being, s*xual & and reproductive health, and sports entrepreneurship for 500 displaced persons ( and ) living in by 2027. We also pledge to continuously use as an instrument in the promotion of and strengthening between and within displaced and host communities. As we advance these pledges, we shall massively communicate and highlight the voices of displaced persons through sports via all our communications channels. We support public accountability and transparency and therefore commit to monitor and report on the progress of these pledges.

Changing rainfall patterns, extreme droughts, and widespread water and food insecurity are impacting vast areas of Africa, whilst other regions are suffering from severe flooding and storms.

Menstrual Hygiene day is around the corner and Tembeng Eli-Anne Anwi cohort 9 fellow and Secretary General of the association has this amazing activity in the community of Tiko come Sunday 28th May. Get to learn about it and how you can support the initiative

Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed on May 28th every year to create awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene management (MHM). Access to menstrual hygiene products and proper menstrual hygiene practices are crucial in the life of every woman. Unfortunately, in Cameroon, inadequate menstrual hygiene facilities, lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, and taboos surrounding menstrual health create barriers for women and girls to maintain healthy menstrual hygiene. However, Hope For A Better Tomorrow - HOBET Cameroon is an organization that is making a significant impact in promoting menstrual hygiene management in Cameroon.

Cameroon is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote sustainable development in Cameroon. The organization's menstrual hygiene project focuses on educating people about menstrual hygiene while also creating access to menstrual hygiene products, particularly in rural areas. HOBET has been instrumental in breaking down taboos and misconceptions surrounding menstruation by providing education and training through an MHM component in their Sexual and Reproductive Health Education Program (SRHEP).

Through their SRHEP program, HOBET Cameroon provides comprehensive s*x education that includes menstrual health and hygiene in schools and community outreach programs. This approach has facilitated conversations and increased awareness about menstrual hygiene management in communities, encouraging girls and women to seek and maintain good menstrual hygiene practices.

The contributions of HOBET Cameroon to promoting MHM in Cameroon are evident in the lives of the people they serve where they have reached out to about 350 since 2020. Their programs have taught vulnerable girls and women how to manage their menstrual health while providing access to affordable and sustainable menstrual hygiene products. HOBET Cameroon's programs have also contributed significantly to reducing the stigma and taboo associated with menstruation.

As an association we will be there on sunday to support them wishing to see you support their initiative through the information on their flier.
