🛩️ Engineering Design Process Takes Flight! 🚀
At STEM Ignite Summer Camp, our campers took their first steps into the world of Engineering Design Process (EDP) through an exhilarating Paper Plane activity! ✈️
🧠 EDP isn't just about building cool things – it's a way of thinking, problem-solving, and unleashing creativity. Through the Paper Plane challenge, our campers learned how to ideate, plan, create, test, and improve their designs.
🌟 Igniting a passion for STEM starts with introducing young minds to the magic of EDP. As they transformed simple sheets of paper into soaring planes, they realized that every challenge is an opportunity to innovate.
🔥 Watch out for these future engineers – they're ready to take on the world, one paper plane at a time! 🌍🚁
🚀 Day 1 of STEM Summer Camp is off to an awesome start! 🌟 Our campers dove into the action with a fantastic icebreaker: the Paper Tower Challenge! 🏗️📐
🤝 Getting to know each other was a blast as our campers teamed up, put their heads together, and built towering structures out of paper! The competition was fierce, but the camaraderie was even stronger. 👬👭
🔥 It's inspiring to see these young minds collaborate and bond as they kick off their STEM journey. Here's to a week filled with learning, fun, and endless possibilities! 🌐✨

Workshop Day 4
All good things must come to and end and it a similar fashion, we conclude a 4-day workshop session on “Sustainable delivery and adoption of STEM Education Curriculums”
Today , we had a walkthrough on certain tools Keanna and Perry use at STARBASE to ease learner’s ability to grasp new concepts via visual renderings.
Tiffany and her amazing team shared the values they wish to inculcate in the youths as they journey through STEM and how to approach contextualization and conceptualisation of STEM as a trainer/teacher for specific scenarios and realities.
Our Program Director, Emmanuel Fru shared pertinent insights on the “T” in STEM and how we could always adapt technology to our immediate surroundings and our limited resources.
All the participants shared on their various stories advocating for STEM via their various initiatives. Notable mentions will be AgriSTEM program by Mrs Yobol which seeks to promote STEM education in agriculture and STEM en Rose by Mrs Noutchia, a journalist by training who advocates for girl and women inclusion in STEM.
We concluded our workshop by sharing well deserved certificates of participation to our very enthusiastic and finely selected group of 50 participants who gained and learned more about STEM education in these few days than they ever had. It is our hope to leverage on this workshop as a starting point for more collaboration across various disciplines to further our vision and mission for STEM in Cameroon.
We are thankful to our partners at STARBASE, led by the amazing Tiffany. The dedication they had towards this project being successful is out of this world.
Huge thanks to the US Department of State, The Mandela Washington Fellowship, IREX and the US Embassy in Cameroon for making this collaboration possible.
We equally thank The ICT University, our facilitator for making this hybrid workshop implementation a smooth, interactive and blissful experience.

Workshop Day 3
We had an overview of project based instruction as a central pillar to STEM approach in learning delivered by one of our workshop participants, Ngan Sylvester Yengo.
This led right into our brainstorm bash session led by Emmanuel Fru, where various prompts were given to participants to develop action plans around sustainable delivery and adoption of STEM in Cameroon.
Tiffany Robinson Young, Keanna and Perry from the US DoD STARBASE program later engaged Cameroonian participants on various modes of effectively delivering and gauging the level of assimilation of STEM lessons with youngsters. We witnessed lesson demonstrations and delivery walkthrough that help paint the picture.

Happy International Women's Day! As a prelude to this year's edition on the theme "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality," Our very own Xaveria Kowo () played her part by spreading the tech gospel and advocating for more women in STEM.
She exchanged powerful insights during a round table discussion hosted by PLAN International () where she shared her personal experience and challenges in her tech journey as well as the important role women have to play in that arena.
It is international day of women and girls in Science and today more than ever, we need to change the culture in STEM.
We need to redefine what a scientist looks like in society. The number of girls interested in STEM increases when they have female role models to inspire them and help them envision themselves in these roles. We need them to be able to name some women leaders in tech.
Day 2/3 of the Girl Coding Camp. Learning continues in a fun and conducive atmosphere.
Day 1/3 of the Girl Coding Camp. Participants were briefed on ICTs and their need and equally got an overview of the fun learning experience that awaits them.

In partnership with a plethora of other organizations and the US Department of State, STEM Ignite will be supporting YES Alumni in Cameroon in organizing a 3-day Girls Coding Camp to empower women in ICTs.
To help promote women’s empowerment, increase women’s representation in ICT fields and break stereotypes over gender capacity in Engineering fields, the 3-day coding camp will teach coding to 20 high school girls, host their code online and award internships to excelling students.
Last week, in the presence of the Minister of Women Emportement and Family, H.E Marie-Thérèse Abena Ondoa, we wrapped up the second edition of The STEM Ignite Summer Camp organized by The ICT University.
It was the opportunity for our campers to showcase their newly unlocked skills in various areas of STEM after an enriching 4 weeks at the camp. The need for more kids to discover their hidden passion for STEM centric subjects is more pressing now than ever.
At STEM Ignite, we strongly believe digital transformation is the solution to attaining most, if not every single UN SDGs. By getting more kids into STEM fields, we our making a statement and equipping tomorrow's problem solvers with the right set of skills they need.
Beyond laying the foundation for engineering problem solving, STEM Ignite instills social entrepreneurship and sustainable leadership skills in their campers. This is necessary for guided innovation that puts the earth and its' people first.
With a particular emphasis on getting more women in tech, STEM Ignite reached out to and nurtured yet another group of young problem solvers with insights on leading technologies for global impact.
