Recognize International Academy

RIA believes that smaller classes equal individualized attention, but this does not come at the sacrifice of a full British curriculum taught in creative ways. We encourage partner work and collaboration as well as individual learning.

At our recent Harry Potter Dance Party, RIA magically transformed into Hogwarts for one night! Entering through platform 9 & 3/4, the students were encouraged to FREE DOBBY, have some every flavor beans, sorted into houses complete with head boy and girl… and some even ventured off to try some butter beer (aka apple juice). Winners for costume, Best Spell, Quidditch, and the Luna Limbo took home fabulous HP prizes including Wizard Chess and Harry’s owl Hedwig.

On Friday the RIA students took some time to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II through various drawings and research projects. May she rest in peace 👑

Our youngest learners are fully immersed in their ocean studies. This week they built their own submarines to explore the depths and the creatures who live there.

Lots of things going on around RIA these days! The upper school students have just begun a solar powered robot project. This week we focused on building the gearbox and solar panel assembly. We're looking forward to trying out various robot models in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, our Star of the Week this week focused on being grateful just in time for Thanksgiving. Mr. Dan's class got into the spirit by designing our own turkeys and talking about the things we are grateful for - from pizza to our loving parents!

Forty of the RIA family ventured to YingDe for a long weekend of exploring, hiking, climbing, learning. During this amazing experience, our families joined together to learn more about our Guangdong region including the environment, culture and regional crops and foods. While all of this is important, the friendships and family atmosphere is probably what everyone will remember the most from our adventure together.

The heavy rain did not dampen the students’ sprits this week. Great way to finish off another great week with a game of sock bowling. Students gave good support to other members of their team throughout the game.

Ms Janes class are reading "Percy Jackson - The Lightning Thief" and have been learning about Greek gods and myths. Today they enjoyed performing a short play "Theseus and the Minotaur". Luckily, the beast wasn't hungry!

We’ve had a fantastic first full week of the new year here at Recognize! Students have settled into their new classes and lots of quality learning and fun have already taken place. From reading activities to map-making and digital citizenship the new year is off to a wonderful start. Due to the frequent rain this week, we had some indoor recess time, but our creative group has found many ways to play and make new friends with puzzles, board games, art projects and more.

We have just started the school year and already, some students have shown astounding jobs in and around the school. One of these is Ted. He made play time for other kids more fun and enjoyable by setting up a game and getting it rolling. Remarkable leadership caught on camera!
