🐙 The calculation of the thickness of a 55% aluminum-zinc coating is as follows:
[Sum of the nominal coating weights on both sides (g/m²) / 50 (g/m²)] x 0.0135 (mm). In other words, the thickness of a 50g/m² coating is 0.0135mm.

🐠 For example, the thickness of a 150g/m² coating would be 150/50 x 0.0135 = 0.0405mm.

How to calculate the thickness of color coated steel?

💲When selecting color coated steel, if not specifically agreed, the ordered thickness of color coated steel refers to the sum of the base metal(substrate) thickness, coating thickness, and paint thickness.

🖊That is, TCTP includes the thickness of the coating and the paint.
TCTP=TCT+paint thickness
TCT =BMT+coating thickness
BMT =base metal thickness

Why can’t PVDF have too bright colors?

🍸 PVDF panels can’t produce too bright colors because the fluorocarbon coatings used in production use inorganic pigments, which mainly depend on natural minerals and their synthetic products.

🍊 They have the advantages of sun resistance, high temperature resistance, good weather resistance, good solubility, and strong covering power.

🍎 However, inorganic pigments also have a disadvantage, that is, the color spectrum is not complete and the colors are not as bright as organic pigments.

If you want to produce brighter fluorocarbon coatings, it is necessary to add organic pigments, but their weather resistance will be affected to a certain extent.

🍹 Therefore, it is generally not recommended to choose too bright colors for PVDF panels.

How to choose substrate for color coated panels?

💡 The substrate is one of the important factors determining the performance of color-coated panels.
According to the different types of coatings, color-coated substrates in construction are divided into three types: hot-dip galvanized, hot-dip aluminum-zinc, and zinc-aluminum-magnesium.

⛰ In relatively alkaline environments, it is recommended to choose hot-dip galvanized substrates.

🏖 In addition to relatively alkaline environments, the use of hot-dip aluminum-zinc substrates will be superior to hot-dip galvanized substrates.

🏘 When the coating is scratched or cut, choosing zinc-aluminum-magnesium can generate a fine-grained magnesium-containing dense oxide film on the cut surface, covering the exposed substrate at the scratched or cut area, thereby improving its corrosion resistance.

Therefore, when choosing color-coated substrates, it is necessary to consider not only the actual application environment of the steel plate but also the functions of the coating and the substrate.
