Learning Beyond Academy provides a holistic, character building, learning environment that promotes We welcome you to the LBA family. Mrs.
ilies here in Shanghai. We continue to add like-minded families to our community, who are investing in the future of their child and entrusting our full-time team with not only their child's education but also their child's social, emotional and character development. We continue to hear testimony after testimony of children being transformed by the loving and caring environment we provide in our classrooms and campus. The partnership we encourage between the teacher, parent and administration has proven to be very successful in the development of children’s confidence in learning, independence and creative thinking. We endeavor to add new families to our program and continue to faithfully serve those we are currently partnered with. Learning Beyond Academy’s story is one of dreams, faith, hard work, and lots of determination. In 2001 the idea of LBA was birthed, as a dream, in the heart of James and Christina Weidner. In September 2010, LBA was then launched, with one teacher and 7 students, in the basement of villa. Weidner, as School Director, sought out a handful of like-minded parents who had the same dreams and goals for their children and asked them to join LBA’s new program. By the end of the first year LBA had 17 student and 3 full time teaches. The second year LBA moved into our current facility and started the year with 6 full time teachers and 36 students. Each year LBA grew exponentially and continued to add facility space and team members to facilitate the growing program. With the help of the team members, the school policies, curriculum and teaching philosophy was firmly established. The initial team members, in the first five years, helped to shape the school’s mission and culture that are now in place today. Today the dream has grown to be a full academic program with approximately 350 students in our Pre-Kindergarten, Primary, High School, and English studies tracks. LBA will celebrate our first senior graduate this 2016/2017 school year. Today, LBA is led by a Board of Directors, with a School Principal leading the day to day operations. LBA occupies nearly 3000sqm of dedicated-leased space within a local community center and is led by a team of approximately 70 full-time team members including administrators, teachers, and support staff. In 2016 LBA qualified for International Candidacy for Accreditation. We look forward to many years of serving this community in Shanghai, China.
