GOAL
Become the best coffee producer with all varieties the landscape characteristics can offer in a beautifully, systematic boutique concept. To implement our goal, we needed a strategy and our mission in it self was our strategy which is “Always finding innovative ways to improve the boutique status”. Our strategy revolves around constant improvement and to achieve it, we realized that we needed to first have a system and process in place. Only from a basis point can we improve from. Our first implementation was the farm management systems that is in place yet to be certified by ISO along with processing methods and roast profiles along with all its Intellectual Property Rights. So to achieve this, we derived an implementation plan which consisted of the maximum yield, land space and identified the number of micro lots and assigned acres to it. We identified that a maximum of 50,000 coffee plants could be planted within 50 acres So all we have to do is increase the number of varieties and plants to 50,000 within the next three years. This will involve:
1. Source varieties
2. Purchase seeds
3. Identify; assign names, location and landscape characteristics to each of the micro lot.
4. Germinating, preparing soil, planting, nurturing,
8) Implement farm management systems that follow ISO Standards
By increasing the varieties with Geisha and the likes of others, we are able to achieve and offer a wider variety and flavor from a systematically programed boutique micro lot. So much more different flavors at the point of it being a green coffee. Our in house processing plant has multiple processing methods and this achieves to bring out the hidden flavor embedded in the coffee only a light roast can identify and thus detail and precision is followed to make sure everything is obtained with such perfection. Multiply that with all the additional micro lots that are coming and that’s the number of flavors you are going to get out of one coffee producer. A window you could say into nothing less than the abundance of flavors for blended coffee makers to blend with, bringing more different individual varieties and choices for all. Imagine each day you get to wake up to either a different processing style of the same variety, which could be from a different micro lot with different landscape characteristics or even a whole different variety from a whole lot of different processes from you to choose from. Jays Caffee belongs to Vijay Nathan, owner and brainchild of Finca Del Karma. “Even green coffee will now have a characteristics label”
he says, “as the coffee could be from the same slope but a different micro lot which may have variance to shade, wind breakers and soil fertility. So you are assured that the whole process follows the traceability system the same way it was built to back track to assure you that you are going to drink what you want.”
