It is a passerine bird in the antbird family. It is found in the Neotropics from Tamaulipas, Mexico, through Central America, Trinidad and Tobago, and a large part of South America east of the Andes as far south as northern Argentina, Bolivia and Paraguay. There is one accepted record from southern Texas.It is found in a wide range of wooded habitats even gardens and parks in both humid and arid regions. Throughout a large part of its range, it is among the most common antbirds.

A small hummingbird that is an endemic resident breeder in Costa Rica and western Panama. It was formerly considered to be a subspecies of the Blue-tailed Emerald.

This tanager is a resident breeder from southern Mexico south to western Ecuador.

Adult golden-hooded tanagers are 13 cm long and weigh 19 g. The adult male has a golden head with a black eyemask edged with violet blue above and below. The upperparts of the body are black apart from the turquoise shoulders, rump and edgings of the wings and tail. The flanks are blue and the central belly is white. Females have a greenish tinge to the head, sometimes with black speckling on the crown, and more extensively white underparts. Immatures are duller, with a green head, dark grey upperparts, off-white underparts, and little blue in the plumage.

The Chestnut-mandibled Toucan, or Swainson’s Toucan (Ramphastos ambiguus swainsonii) is a near-passerine bird which breeds from eastern Honduras to northern Colombia to western Ecuador. This subspecies is replaced from southern Colombia to eastern Peru by the nominate subspecies Black-mandibled Toucan, R. ambiguus ambiguus. The SACC and NACC of the AOU have recently indicated (in 2010) that these birds should be classified as conspecific. The scientific and alternative English names commemorate the English ornithologist and artist William Swainson.
Small flocks, usually consisting of 3-12 birds, move through the forest with an undulating flight, rarely travelling more than 100 m at a time. This species is primarily an arboreal fruit-eater, but will also take insects, lizards, eggs, and frogs. Flocks will follow Keel-billed Toucans to exploit their sources of food.

White-nosed coatis inhabit wooded areas (dry and moist forests) of the Americas. They are found at any altitude from sea level to 3,000 m (9,800 ft),[8] and from as far north as southeastern Arizona and New Mexico, through Mexico and Central America, to far northwestern Colombia (Gulf of Urabá region, near Colombian border with Panama).[9][10] There has been considerable confusion over its southern range limit,[11] but specimen records from most of Colombia (only exception is far northwest) and Ecuador are all South American coatis.[9][10]

It is an endemic resident breeder in Costa Rica and western Panama.

It occurs in the lowlands and foothills of the Pacific slope up to 1100 m, being replaced on the Caribbean slopes of tropical Central America by the closely related White-collared Manakin, M. candei, and eastwards of its range to northwestern Colombia by the Golden-collared Manakin, Manacus vitellinus, of which was formerly considered a subspecies.

This is a bird of semi-open moist forest, tall second growth, shady plantations and gardens. The female lays two brown-speckled grey eggs in a shallow cup nest 0.5–2.5 m high in a horizontal tree fork. Nest-building, incubation for 18–21 days, and care of the young are undertaken by the female alone, since manakins do not form stable pairs.
