The aim of the project “Our Friend Mr Robot“ is developing the competences of teachers and students through strategic partnership in initial and continuing IT education.
Researchers at Tufts University and Harvard University’s Wyss Institute have developed small living robots, called anthrobots, from human cells.
These anthrobots, unlike the earlier xenobots, were created using adult human cells from the trachea. The cells were chosen for their motion capabilities due to the presence of cilia, and hairlike projections.
The researchers found a way to encourage the cilia to face outward, allowing the ‘anthrobots’ to move in a coordinated manner.
These self-assembling ‘anthrobots’, surviving up to 60 days, could potentially have medical applications, such as aiding in wound healing or damaged tissue repair.
Northwestern University researchers have developed advanced wearable technology that continuously monitors body sounds at various points, offering clinical-grade accuracy and introducing novel functionalities.
These gadgets, gently attached to the skin, use high-performance digital microphones and accelerometers to map air movement, heart rhythm, and gastrointestinal processes.
Sized at 40mm x 20mm x 8mm, the devices are encased in soft silicone and can distinguish between internal body noises and exterior sounds.
Researchers focused on monitoring post-surgical adults and premature neonates, aiding in cardiorespiratory and gastrointestinal issue detection. The technology enables real-time tracking for improved patient care.
Researchers in China have developed drones that can engage in “group chats” similar to human teams.
The project, led by Li Xuelong at Northwestern Polytechnical University, employed large language models to enable drones to communicate with each other and operators using natural language.
The drones were equipped with sensors and advanced algorithms for low-altitude exploration, real-time obstacle avoidance, and visual positioning, making them well-suited for tasks like security inspections, disaster relief, and logistics optimization. This technology could enhance safety and efficiency in various applications.
