/ Coastline #1 . Gibraltar to Málaga .
Through transforming coastal stretches into sculptural wool objects like ' #1 Gibraltar to Málaga', Mareike Lienau aims to create another transcultural space of memory. This goal pervades all her designs, encouraging a personal attachment to the objects while raising awareness of their social and ecological impact. It invites
reflection on their creation, concept, and history, motivating conscious action for a more sustainable future.

The universe, viewed in its entirety, encompasses both the infinite universe and the mysterious deep sea. Both represent a boundless abundance of matter and space that exists simultaneously. These associations awaken longings for the infinite expanse of the cosmos and the depths of the sea. The new obejct for wall and floor awakens the longing to let oneself fall into this atmosphere.

New pouf character ‚Kailani‘ from Lyk Carpet
The launch of Lyk Carpet’s new pouf character ‚Kailani - the sea and the sky‘ marks the start of a new pouf family that extends the unique sculptural quality and distinctive aesthetic of Mareike Lienau’s ranges. Each pouf family consists of three unique pieces, each of which has a distinct personality and presents an individual character. Together they form an ensemble that presents the hand-knotted rug in a unique way and invites you to experience the craftsmanship directly.

/ Lyk Carpet is invited to participate in the exhibition ‘Animism’.
Adorno is pleased to announce ‘Animism’, a landmark exhibition of contemporary design and crafts to be held at Alcova Milano 2024, in a grand room of Villa Bagatti Valsecchi in conjunction with Milano Design Week 2024.
The exhibition will investigate the deeper meaning of objects, through the lens of Animism. We talk about pieces as if they’re alive as if they’re people – the sofa goes well with the rug, the lamp has a lot of character, and so on – yet rarely do we entertain the notion that they might truly possess life. While such musings may seem reminiscent of childish fables, throughout nearly all of human history, the animist perspective – that everything, from rocks to rivers, is alive – was the only perspective. Now, the realm of science is steadily expanding the definition of life, challenging our ability to delineate between what is sentient and what is not, beings and things, subjects and objects.

feel.ambiguity - an invitation to the non-conformist .
Mareike Lienau strives to make traditional materials and techniques tangible and to enter into direct dialog with people. Her holistic approach aims to create an intercultural connection between people, materials and tradition. This approach goes beyond pure craftsmanship; the process designer wants to provide food for thought and draw attention to the history of traditional techniques through her work with wool in space and by reinterpreting them. The objects she creates are not only the result of craftsmanship, but also bear responsibility for their creation process. By linking art and production in this way, she actively engages with the history and significance of traditional craftsmanship.

#2 object’s sky-blue-colored Tibetan highland virgin wool evokes the flowing tails of nostalgic merry-go-round horses. Interwoven dyed corn husks lend the bottom half of this object its dark accents, creating an appealing color contrast.
feel.Ambiguity’s set of three objects invites you to experience ambiguity. Their design was conceptualized by Mareike Lienau in collaboration with the female artisans. Each of the stools tells an individual story through its design, materials and applied techniques in the viewer's mind.

object #3 / wraps its body in an impressive skirt of Nepalese cardamom fibre in a play of colours ranging from powdery pink to pastel coral through pastel shades of coral to an iridescent cream. The use of of interwoven black dyed maize husk creates a spiral pattern, that extends elegantly from the centre of the seat to flush with the fringe of the stool.
Designed as stools, the objects of the Feel.Ambiguity collection serve as a comfortable seat and cut an excellent figure as a side table or a visual highlight in the interior design.
With feelAmbiguity, three co-creation objects have been created that invite you to experience ambiguity. The design was developed by Mareike Lienau in collaboration with the artisans. Each of the three new stools creates its own individuality through the design material used and the technique applied. Each one creates an individual story in the viewer's mind. This consciously promoted emotional process arises through the craftsmanship and co-creation, which arouse emotions and tell a global and connected story.

Mareike Lienau designed this wool object to pay homage to the temple rock garden’s concept and scale. It hones in on the notion of a ‘blind spot’ — the viewer is invited to reflect on how impactful and ever-present blind spots are in any interaction or endeavor. The design’s circular element, a woolen nest, symbolizes this blind spot while offering a space to sit and contemplate. The graphic lines evoke the rock garden area. They serve as a reminder to reconsider the seen and unseen, given the respective time, location, and culture we find ourselves in at any given moment.
