WORKSHOP Lyrical Funk Fusion Intensive in the CENTER OF DANCE from the 26th to the 30th of August offers the opportunity to participate in the creation of authentic and expressive movement in a lyrical choreographic style that emphasizes musicality and a phrasing rooted in but not determined by the feeling for funk. Over time, the training and process cultivate versatility and a broad range of expression by systematically using and fusing Horton, Limón, and African American dance styles. Participants experience a training process that is organic, empathetic, interactive, and situational. Significant improvement is guaranteed for those who train more, and are patient, passionate, honest, and courageous. Kelvin Hardy, a dancer originally from New York, has taught and choreographed in many professional schools, including the State Ballet School in Berlin, the Dance Academy in Zürich, and the Alvin Ailey School in New York. He has choreographed for musicals like Cabaret, Carmen, "a bigger bounce" Hiphopera, and his own dance company and productions. He also teaches in educational programs at the Dance Academy Zürich and Palucca University that train professional teachers. The level of the Lyrical Funk Fusion workshop is advanced intermediate, but good movers with some foundational dance knowledge should be able to get their dance off.
