Iโm a big believer in finding movement forms that fit different bodies and here is a little example of that. One way is a more traditional approach and the other plays with the alignment norms. Itโs important as a teacher to work with your students on an individual basis as one size definitely doesnโt fit all, especially with drop backs. Thank you @mirja_flows for your trust and open mind.
Doesnโt matter if you love or hate a posture, you just need to do it with love and respect. #kapotasana is one of many asanas I am currently struggling with and even though today was tough I managed to get my heel with the left hand. This is my tighter shoulder and most days this is not possible but from time to time the Mysore Magic comes back ๐
Early morning pajama practice for me before covering the 6:15am Mysore program @thevinyasapeople itโs a little too early for my liking but what can you do ๐ My back has been a little sensitive ever since coming back from Mysore this season but slowly slowly itโs feeling better. #kapotasana is a tough posture for me with my shoulders so I have to be really careful, the right side is a lot easier than the left which is still not grabbing the heel since coming back to Germany. I am a little too quick here but as some of you know, coming back from an injury can be a scary thing and the mind needs time to recover and understand that is all good. The key is good guidance and consistency so letโs see what happens ๐
TREAT YOURSELF to 1 hour of Breathwork. ๐๐๐ Itโs been a while since I have sat down to do a longer breathing practice but today it was well need and well received.

Working into some tight shoulders with a #kapotasana variation. The blocks really help to give a little space in the shoulders and upper back helping to keep straight arms. ๐

Dropback towards the end of practice today. This is one of those postures that I always take a moment before to contemplate my life choices ๐ I donโt love to dropback but itโs in the practice and I respect the method. This is defo one of the reasons I have found Ashtanga yoga so transformative. Everyday I get the chance to face my fears and dislikes which is a great practice for when we have to leave the mat ๐
Happy to be home and back on my actual mat. After a long day of travel and getting used to sharing a bed with little humans and dogs my practice was a little shaken but it always feels good. ๐
Yoga version of sit ups! Great for building core strength and stability. I have been testing the new @luviyo for a few days now and itโs review time as promised. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the mat as the grip is incredible for a sweaty vinyasa class. The microfiber surface is grippy with wet and dry hands which is not the case with other microfiber mats I have tried in the past which is a big thumbs up! Itโs compact and comes with its own strap and in a variety of colors and patterns for those who are a little more style conscious ๐ although compact itโs still around the 2kg mark so not light if this is an important factor for you. My only criticism is due to the thickness I could feel the floor through the mat in some Ashtanga postures but to be honest no more than another mat I love to use. Itโs sustainable, durable and washing machine proof and I would definitely recommend for vinyasa practioners but maybe not yin lovers due to the comfort level. I was #gifted this mat and have a discount code for 15% with katy15. I donโt receive commission itโs just a little money off if you decide to try the mat ๐
Today is a long day of teacher training in the new studio which means many hours sitting which might surprise many of you. The hardest part of teacher training, well physically anyway is the amount of time you have to sit. This is why I love to practice before I teach and do a few little fun warm up plays. This variation is fantastic for warming up the shoulders and chest plus itโs always good to get upside down ๐
