Contradiction Studies
DFG Research Training Group "Contradiction Studies" at the University of Bremen
Semester Recap 🔙
📚Cooperation with the University of the Western Cape on Decentering the Museum and Postcolonial Politics of Memory
RTG “Contradiction Studies” was happy to invite three PhD Students from the University of the Western Cape. The young researchers have been participating in the joint project “Decentering the Museum: Resist! – Repair! – Restitute! – Reimagine!” created by the Department of Anthropology and Cultural Research at the University of Bremen.
Apart from the exciting academic events, the guests from the UWC exchanged their ideas with the other young researchers within the framework of the toolboxes at the Contradiction Studies Research Training Group. The reflection on the different experiences and impressions in colonial institutions is ongoing and continues to raise new questions about continuity and reproduction of epistemic violence as well as the possibilities of collaborative, polyphonic work.

We are glad to present you a new contribution made by Fiona Makulik, the researcher of RTG “Contradiction Studies”
The article “Zur Ästhetik von Widerspruchspraxen am Beispiel des feministischen Abtreibungsdiskurses in den 1970er Jahren” published in aptum, Zeitschrift für Sprachkritik und Sprachkultur analyses the practices of contradiction with regard to their aesthetic potential. Texts from the feminist abortion discourse are used by the author as the examples.
