RESEARCH-BASED COOPERATION WITH HOCHSCHULE FULDA // Supporting young talents by researching on future mobility, together. This is the goal of our cooperation with Hochschule Fulda, as we are combining science and industry through practical research and development on a pioneering mobility system.

For this purpose, we are providing a model of the EDAG CityBot, which plays a special role in researching an ecosystem for mobility and transport tasks. Together with professors, researchers, and (future) engineers, we are implementing an innovative teaching concept with various phases: from lectures and basic education to specific projects on the vehicle itself. Therefore, students from the departments of Applied Computer Science as well as Electrical Engineering and Information Technology can work on an innovative solution for smart, sustainable, and efficient cities in a hands-on manner.

MOTORSPORT & ENGINEERING IN THE DTM // In the DTM, technical development, innovation, and teamwork go hand in hand – just like at EDAG!

We share a passion for motorsport and engineering – that's why, together with our technical partner SSR Performance GmbH, we are constantly working on improving the performance, efficiency, and safety of both racing and road vehicles. Performance optimization is always at the forefront, whether it's in vehicle technology, aerodynamics, or materials science.

And because we love to see what we develop, design, and optimize in action, we regularly attend DTM races. This weekend, we're excited to be there with the Formula Student Teams Team Starcraft e.V. and TMM - Technikum Mittweida Motorsport as well as colleagues from different departements.

EDAG CHINA COMPETES IN THE 3RD WOLFSBURG UNITED CUP // The third Wolfsburg United Cup kicked off on May 17th, 2024, in Shanghai. Twenty teams, including six from Volkswagen and 14 business partners like Linglong Tire, JOYNEXT, AnJi Logistics, Deloitte, Horizon Robotics, and EDAG China, gathered at JING’AN Stadium for an exciting football event.

The Wolfsburg Football Club organizes this annual “Meeting Friends Through Football” event in China, bringing together senior management from Volkswagen and its partners.

This year, EDAG China's football team made its debut in the competition, with colleagues from our Shanghai and Shenyang offices. They played six matches, demonstrating excellent teamwork and determination. Notably, William Wu, CEO of EDAG China, participated in the Senior Executives Friendly Match.

GERMAN DELEGATION VISITS EDAG CHINA // Recently, a delegation from Germany traveled to meet our team in Shanghai, China.

During the visit, the team received a comprehensive introduction to EDAG China. Established in 2004, our presence in China has expanded to five strategic locations, including our headquarters in Shanghai, with a team of approximately 400 professionals dedicated to driving automotive innovation.

Despite the dynamic nature of the Chinese automotive market, which saw a growth from 23.5 million units in 2014 to a peak of 30.1 million units in 2023, EDAG China has demonstrated resilience and adaptability.

Our success is rooted in our ability to navigate market shifts and capitalize on emerging opportunities. As the landscape evolves, we have proactively explored avenues in the Local OEM and New Energy Vehicle segments, recognizing and responding to the changing dynamics, especially as traditional German joint ventures encountered challenges.

NAVIGATING SETBACKS: THE 2024 DTM SEASON OPENER RECAP // SSR Performance and EDAG Group had certainly envisioned a different beginning to the 2024 DTM season. During the race at Oschersleben, Nicki Thiim was forced to retire, and Mirko Bortolotti plummeted from first to 15th place due to undisclosed technical issues during pit stops.

Nevertheless, they did notlet this dampen their spirits, as evidenced by our photo gallery. We were present on-site Saturday and had the pleasure of hosting two Formula Student teams, HAWKS Racing e.V. and HorsePower Hannover, for the race day. The pit tour was just one of the many highlights.

It is all about resilience: fall down, get back up, and keep going. We are already looking forward to the next stage at the Lausitzring on May 23rd - 26th, 2024.

EDAG INC // We have been working on EE zone architectures in vehicles for several years and in several research projects. Service-oriented EE architectures are widely used in the IT world and this technology is also finding its way into the automotive environment.

Having already presented our topics together with TSN Systems at the ELIV Marketplace in 2023 in Germany, EDAG Inc in the US is now also collaborating with TSN Systems on ethernet validation specialties – offering our customers an expanded portfolio in testing.

EXCITING NEWS FROM THE DTM 2024 SEASON // The EDAG Group and SSR Performance GmbH are continuing their partnership to bring the power of Lamborghini back to the race track.

Mirko Bortolotti and Nicki Thiim will represent the team in their DTM debut. SSR Performance will field two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EvO2s at the season opener.

The synergy between EDAG and SSR Performance drives success on the track, while EDAG expands its vehicle dynamics simulation capabilities with the new EDAG Zero Prototype Lab in Wolfsburg. The collaboration extends beyond motorsport, contributing to overall vehicle development.

MARCH RECAP // We are happy to share some moments captured by our employees on camera: from team leader workshops and events with Formula Student teams, to the 25-year celebration in India, as well as recruiting fair visits and team events filled with fun and excitement. GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW SMART FACTORY // Recently, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the commencement of construction for a cutting-edge factory in the USA.

Spearheaded by EDAG PS and Vacuumschmelze (VAC), this project aims to establish a state-of-the-art facility for the production of rare earth permanent magnets. Scheduled to inaugurate in September 2025, the smart factory will set new standards in efficiency and environmental sustainability.

EDAG PS, serving as the technical consultant and general planner, is dedicated to ensuring the streamlined and eco-friendly production of 1,600 tonnes of rare earth permanent magnets annually.

We are expanding our network with two additional locations in Austria. EDAG Austria GmbH, based in Steyr and Neustift under the leadership of Markus Mekina, Managing Director, offers a wide range of services in the field of vehicle development and robotics. The focus of the site in St. Ulrich near Steyr, which has been established and built up since autumn, is on commercial vehicle development. The integration of the second site in Neustift in Mühlkreis will enable us to further expand the long-standing EDAG Production Solutions portfolio centred around the 'Smart Factory'. SAFETY OF EDAG CITYBOTS // Who actually ensures that the EDAG Citybot recognises its surroundings correctly and reacts accordingly?🛠️ For example, does it brake precisely when pedestrians or objects are in the way? We are working together with the experts from DEKRA Germany on this as part of the Campus FreeCity project. During our visit to the DEKRA Lausitzring, teleoperated driving was tested on the Lausitzring circuit. At the same time, the experts from DEKRA Germany once again carried out tests on the safety and functionality of the bots.🔒 This time, they included the FOD*BOSS sweeping mat, which was tested on the track as a use case for the EDAG CityBot. With the help of this sweeping mat, the bots' range of tasks could be expanded in future to include race track and taxiway cleaning. 🧹
