Our company contributes in team development in many ways. So when the team expressed the desire to learn foreign languages, the company agreed.

After some time of having language lessons, we noticed a great side benefit: it’s an opportunity to simply talk to each other during a busy day (even by using a foreign language), to get to know each other’s opinions, fears and hopes. It definitely helps to build trust and a real connection in a distributed, remotely working team.

How soon will we be speaking foreign languages? We don’t know. But we are definitely on the right way to build a close-knit team.

Despite the high telecoms CapEx, it has never been an option to reduce investment in the network: operators are faced with consumers requiring perfect connectivity, and investors approving the network upgrades early and heavily.

OpEx is more than two times higher than CapEx, so there is more scope to identify cost-cutting opportunities.

While “belt-tightening” strategies offer very limited savings, the TM Forum report shows that operators need to depend on successful initiatives of business process automation.

The report breaks down the OpEx differences for operators across the globe, and highlights the most promising cost-cutting areas. We consider telecommunications to our alma mater industry.
When iFLEX was founded sixteen years ago, the company software development and system integration expertise was formed around telecoms’ needs. Since then, we’ve expanded to retail, banking, EDI and other industries, but telecommunications is still at the core of our professional interests.

The KPMG Telecoms CEO Outlook reveals an important shift in the industry, which we also notice from the technical perspective of our work:

● telecommunication companies are focusing on organisational resilience to capture emerging opportunities and new revenue streams;

● investment into digitizing operations was accelerated by months or years as a result of the pandemic;

● in addition to evolving consumers’ expectations, telecommunications industry must embrace a growing reliance on at-home telecoms services for work, family connection, and educational needs.

As a result, telecoms are shifting to a digital-first customer experience with digital business models and revenue streams that enhance resiliency.
