Welcome to the highland party! Swift Scottish music with a touch of freedom and chimney fire, that is what Caledonix has written onto its banners.
A mix of dance tunes, ballads and amusing stories from the Scottish highlands thrill not only Scotland fans. Let us take a gallant whisky to draw a comparison: Scotland travellers know, that every single label gets its unique and individual character after running through its very special handling. Caledonix acts by the same procedure with the music: to the old, traditional melodies, additional in
strumental parts are composed by themselves. By this procedure, a new inventive style is arising. Caledonix labels it “Hot’n Scot’n Music”. All band members put emphasis on virtuosity, when thy play their instruments. Sir Thomas Scheuringer, the guitarist and Clemens McRaw, the accordion player had a classical education; they refine the elemental music with sneaky facets. Perry Letsch tickles unforeseen notes out of his harp. Therefore he got several international awards, including the gold medal at the European harp festival in Trossingen (Germany). Gabi Wenhuda demonstrates, that barnstorming rhythm can be conjured out of a mousy celtic drum, the so called bodhrán. Finally there is Axel McRenfftlen, the bassist. For his vocals a vote out of the audience appeared:” He is the man with the body-lotion-voice”. The CDs of Caledonix were highly recommended by critics. Several performances on different TV-Shows explain, that Caledonix has many fans, not only in the folk genre. Wherever this musicians rise on the scene, furnished in their rascal kilts, wanton mood is guaranteed – like at a wild party in the Scottish highlands.
