Von der UNESCO 2011 ins Leben gerufen, soll der Weltradiotag an die Bedeutung des Radios erinnern, denn ohne wären viele Menschen von dem Recht auf Meinungs- und Informationsfreiheit ausgeschlossen.
Im Punkt Meinungsfreiheit spielen besonders freie Medien eine große Rolle:
In einer Mischung aus Information und Unterhaltung Bürger*innen eine Plattform zu geben, auf der sie ihre Meinung frei äußern und Inhalte, die sie beschäftigen, für andere zugänglich machen können. Die Beliebtheit freier Medien endet jedoch nicht an den Grenzen Deutschlands, vielmehr sind sie auf der ganzen Welt zu finden.
Auf diese Vielfalt möchten wir mit unserem Sonderprogramm nun schon das achte Jahr in Folge aufmerksam machen. Und wie geht das besser, als mit einem bunten, internationalen Programm. Hierfür haben uns nichtkommerzielle, freie Radiostationen aus der Schweiz, Österreich, Griechenland, Georgien, Slowenien und Kanada jeweils eine einstündige Sendung zugeschickt. Im Gegenzug haben sie von uns eine Ausgabe der Sendung „Weltbeat – Globalwize“ bekommen. Alle Sendungen (einschließlich unserer eigenen) könnt ihr bei uns am kommenden Samstag, den 13. Februar, von 7 bis 23 Uhr hören.
