New Flottweg rotor for Vilsbiburg's wastewater treatment plant

In mid-May, the time had come: after 24 years of operation, the Vilsbiburg wastewater treatment plant received a new, modernized rotor for its decanter. This has been in use since 2000 and helps to dewater the sewage sludge. It treats the wastewater around Vilsbiburg, from Seyboldsdorf via Solling to Frauensattling and Kurzbach.

Exzellente Noten: Erfolgreiches Ausbildungsende bei Flottweg

Mit dem Ausbildungsende bei Flottweg haben 16 talentierte Auszubildende im Bereich Industriemechanik und Mechatronik einen wichtigen Zwischenschritt in ihrer beruflichen Laufbahn erreicht. Dabei haben 15 ihre Ausbildungszeit von 3 ½ Jahre auf 3 Jahre verkürzt. 12 Absolventen werden von Flottweg übernommen und unterstützen den Trenntechnikspezialisten zukünftig in den verschiedenen Fachabteilungen, wie beispielsweise in der Trommel- oder Schneckenfertigung oder im Anlagenbau.

Flottweg optimizes production with new robotic welding plant

Flottweg has begun using a fully automated robotic welding plant to weld scrolls and scroll bodies, as well as to mark and label the parts. The new machine makes production much easier and reduces the strain on machine operators. This completely new production process was tested in collaboration with Fronius and implemented internally by an interdisciplinary project team. The process was developed and trialed with Fronius for around nine months. The new robotic welding plant cost approximately 750,000 euros.

Sewage sludge thickening with Flottweg decanter centrifuges

The thickening of excess sludge is often not given the attention it actually deserves. Thickening is an important process stage that affects the removal of sludge from the secondary clarification plant as well as the feeding of the digester. Sludge removal from the secondary clarificaiton plant should be carried out in line with the technical requirements of secondary clarification. In other words, after the sludge has accumulated or also to prevent the sludge from being discharged in heavy rain. Digester feeding should be done at the most consistent rate possible, both hydraulically as well as in terms of the solid mass flow. These objectives are often contradictory.
The task of sewage sludge thickening is then to reconcile these two requirements. This can be achieved with a Flottweg thickening plant, fully regulated and optimized for unattended 24/7 operation.

With a proportion of around 80 percent, casein is the main protein in cow’s milk and plays a crucial role in various industrial sectors. It is used in the chemical industry for paper production as well as in the food industry as a high-quality protein. Centrifuges are an essential part of the industrial production and manufacture of casein. They enable efficient production with a high total dry solids content in the end product and contribute to sustainable casein manufacture through their water-saving process.

Rückblick: Flottweg öffnete am Berufsinfotag seine Türen

Am Samstag, den 06. Juli 2024 fand beim Maschinenbauer Flottweg der Berufsinfotag für die Ausbildung im Werk 1 statt. Rund 300 Besuchende erhielten einen Einblick in die Arbeitswelt des Separationstechnikspezialisten und hatten die Möglichkeit die Ausbildungswerkstatt und Fertigung kennenzulernen. Aktuell bildet Flottweg in den folgenden vier Berufen aus: Industriemechaniker (m/w/d), Mechatroniker (m/w/d), Fachkraft für Lagerlogistik (m/w/d) und Industriekaufmann mit Zusatzqualifikation Fremdsprachen (m/w/d). Aber auch Interessierte, die sich über Jobmöglichkeiten in der Fertigung informieren wollten, hatten die Möglichkeit einen Einblick in die Arbeitswelt bei Flottweg zu erhalten.

Flottweg belt presses – for effective and economical solid/liquid separation in the food industry

Belt filter presses are an economically attractive solution for the effective separation of liquid/solid suspensions. By combining dewatering and shearing with special filter belts, Flottweg belt presses can also be used to process products in which the liquid phase is bound in the cell tissue (e.g. organic fruit pulp, plant fibers, etc.). This process increases the separation efficiency, the yield of liquid, and the dry solid content in the pressed-out material.

Milk fat processing and recovery

A variety of fat-containing by-products are produced by milk and cheese dairies. In order to make production more efficient and sustainable, this milk fat can be processed and recycled. Flottweg separators are used to separate the valuable milk fat from the water and to further process the recovered product. The baking industry, in particular, uses milk fat in the form of butter, clarified butter and butter oil. Flottweg in exchange with Polish delegation

Following the 5th International Conference on Vegan Alternatives for Milk and Dairy Products in Kempten, Flottweg presented its separation solutions to a delegation of experts from Poland. The group accepted an invitation from the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Munich as part of the "Bavaria - Fit for Partnership" program. We were supported by our colleague from Flottweg Poland.

In mid-June, the "5th International Conference: The importance of plant and cell-based alternatives for the dairy industry" took place at muva Kempten. Our colleagues were there to present Flottweg's efficient separation solutions for plant-based milk alternatives and proteins. Our sales engineer Simon Kropp also gave a presentation on "Separation solutions for the processing of dairy, plant-based and biotechnological products".

Flottwegs Azubi-Forschungsprojekt erhält zweiten Platz beim Bundeswettbewerb Jugend forscht

Großartige Neuigkeiten für Flottweg: Der Auszubildende Dominik Limmer, 21, hat mit seinem Forschungsprojekte „E-Modulbestimmung – mit Bindefaden und Headset zum E-Modul“ den zweiten Platz beim Bundeswettbewerb von Jugend forscht gewonnen. Neben dem zweiten Platz in der Kategorie Arbeitswelt erhielt Dominik Limmer überdies zwei Sonderpreise: Die Jury zeichnete ihn mit dem „Preis für eine Arbeit von Auszubildenden auf dem Gebiet „Mensch – Arbeit – Technik” sowie „Preis für eine Arbeit auf dem Gebiet Qualitätssicherung durch Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung“ aus.

Groundbreaking ceremony for Flottweg's new Process Center

On Thursday, June 13, the official ground-breaking ceremony marked the start of Flottweg's latest construction project: the Process Center represents a further strengthening of the Vilsbiburg site with an investment of around 15 million euros. On around 2,000 square meters, the technology center with laboratory, testing, office and storage areas will offer the possibility of designing customer-specific solutions in an even more targeted manner in the future. This will enable the separation technology specialist to meet growing customer requirements and support the development of new innovations and technologies.

Minister of State Dr. Herrmann honors state winners of Jugend forscht Bayern 2024

On 15.05.2024, Minister of State Dr. Herrmann welcomed the 14 winners of this year's Jugend forscht Bayern state competition at the Prinz-Carl-Palais in Munich. The 14 young scientists impressed the jury at the Bavarian state competition at the beginning of April and will now represent Bavaria with their projects in the national final. This year, Flottweg SE from Vilsbiburg once again took on the state sponsorship for the STEM competition for young talent.
