Armet UL
This time of year seems to be good to harvest armets ;-)
Same game another helmet, first some details.
Though much plainer than the one before there is still something to show...
And here it is in all its beauty!
The source this helmet is based on is of course the armet by Hans Rabeiler in the royal armouries (Object number: IV.468).
The weight is 3580g. The original has 3410g.
A big thank to Fred Ryall for supporting me with additional informations!
Enjoy!
Details, details, details...
You may guess which helmet it is (probably easy for some of you)
A big thank to the customer who made this project possible and also for his cooperation and patience.
Thanks for all the positiv feedback, likes and sharing
It was a great project but now I am happy it is over, at least for now ;-)
Anyway, these two are the really important ones as everyting started with them. So lets end with it.
Finally, a few more pictures, even if I'm not really happy with them... Thanks to Laura Bergmann and Tom Biliter who helped me out so I have at least some to show.

Get dressed for battle...
As a lot of you guys have worried about breathing in the helmet, here a first rewiew of the customer after the Harnischfechten weekend:
Breathing in the helmet is not an issue, even while fighting. It's more comfortable to breathe in than my previous helmet (Eisenhut+Bevor), since the underside of the visor/bevor overlap is slotted and these slots are directly beneath the nose and close to the mouth. As an added bonus, they allow for downward vision without tilting the head.
The small volume of the helmet means there is very little room for stale air/CO2 to accumulate and it's much easier to expel from the helmet while breathing. By comparison my old kit always felt suffocating because the larger volume within the helmet meant that you were always breathing in your own breath.
The other key factor is controlled breathing and a general baselevel of fitness, if you start panting within any closed helmet it will be very uncomfortable.
And, as a bonus, because I think it adds so much to the appearence, in combination with the gorget...
Have a nice weekend and see you (at least some of you) at the Harnischfechten symposium!
As promised... tadaaa "THE HELMET"
... and gorget for today, and finally the helmet tomorrow
Sorry for spamming, I know it is hard to keep up with all the posts lately, but you are almost there... ;-)

Interpretation of "Zwei Ritter im Gespräch"
This is a cooperation with the customer Andreas Ferrarius who did the (very nice) polish and assembly by himself. On the last picture you can see how the armour left the shop.
