Thank you for sending Blessing my way along with Paka and his crew to work on reopening the magical and amazing OhLaLa Dominica . 9 years old Blessing came with her single parent father, a crew member because she along with all rural primary school students were put out of school every last working day of the month to facilitate teachers to get their wages. I went to a rural school over forty years ago and had the same priveldge as the city students. On NO occasion were we disupted or put out of school to accommodate teachers. I imagine each school had a rota system for each teacher to get one weekday off a month to run his/her errands into town with a cover teacher in place. So school closing to allow teacher to get their wages is even more ridiculous these days with the advent of internet banking. As Executive Member of the South East Reconnection Committee Debra Charles-Mark feel pumped up in her advocacy in reconnecting her island by means of a BRIDGE. Yesterday the universe sent us two stressed-out local tourist from the North who were trying to get to Victoria Falls using GPS. The GPS system was not updated that Delices is a dead end and the road is closed. Their vehicle went into a deep ditch and got stuck close to the area where the bridge is needed. Eventually in the pitch dark their vehicle was pulled out by a local village man who ask for $150 for his service. We gave them dinner, and bid them farewell. But they never made it back home last night!! Their vehicle ran out of gas at Rosalie where they slept at the roadside. Attempts to get gas was futile as both Delices and River Cyrique filling station was closed. How much more of this situation have to happen for the SAFETY of SE visitors and residents to be given priority?
