How can they keep a bear in such a small area when they’re used to roaming forests and mountains!? So so cruel. This actually made me cry. He’s basically just stuck on a rock!
Copenhagen Zoo was disappointing and upsetting
The whole experience of visiting Copenhagen Zoo just disappointed me and left me a little depressed and upset. I left feeling so down and deflated. If they don’t have the room for all of these animals, then clearly they need to give some of them to a zoo that does have the room, and then concentrate on just a small collection of animals. The bears were also in a very small enclosure… as you can tell, my brother wasn’t too impressed either…
Berkeley
Maybe you're on a college tour or in town for parents' weekend—either way, this one-bedroom in Berkeley's Claremont neighborhood will do the trick. It's close enough to UC Berkley (eight minutes driving) for easy exploration, but far enough away to provide a sense of calm. Inside, that calm continues, with bright Scandinavian decor and views of surrounding trees. There's one queen bed, a long sectional (big enough for a gangly college kid), fireplace, record player, standard kitchen, and large, modern bathroom.
Mill Valley
A 30-minute drive from downtown San Francisco, at the base of Muir Woods National Monument, this is the ultimate city dweller's escape, with tons of day-hike paths and towering redwoods just outside the front door. Inside, the four-bedroom home feels like a spa, with natural wood paneling, white-washed walls, and plants around every turn. It's perfect for families, too, with room-darkening shades for nap time, a Pack ’n Play crib and highchair on request, bathtub, and washer/dryer for post-hike laundry. Between the large, tree-covered deck and the family room, with its piano and desk, to the extra-long dining room, it's hard to pick the most relaxing spot.
