Swallow-tailed Gull (Creagrus furcatus)

This simple-looking bird has very special characteristics, it feeds exclusively at night, mainly fish and squid; and when it does not reproduce, it is totally pelagic.

Native to the Galapagos Islands but can also be seen on the Colombian, Ecuadorian and Peruvian continental coasts.

Gaviota Tijereta o Gaviota de cola bifurcada (Creagrus furcatus)

Esta avecilla de aspecto simple posee características muy especiales, se alimenta exclusivamente de forma nocturna, principalmente de peces y calamares; y cuando no se reproduce, es totalmente pelágico.

Nativa de las Islas Galápagos pero puede verse también en las costas continentales colombianas, ecuatorianas y peruanas.

American Flamingo or Red Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber)

These beautiful birds are characterized by their long legs and their pink coloration, which is the result of a diet based on shrimp, insect larvae, microorganisms and algae.

A striking feature of these birds is that they usually stand on one leg to reduce body heat or active muscular effort.

Estas hermosas aves se caracterizan por sus patas largas y su coloración rosa, que es el resultado de una dieta a base de camarones, larvas de insectos, microorganismos y algas.

Una característica llamativa de estas aves es que usualmente se paran sobre una pierna para reducir el calor corporal o el esfuerzo muscular activo.

White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)

This marvelous ungulate is a medium-sized, native to the Americas with a wide range extending from Canada to Bolivia.

It is known for its distinctive white underside of the tail, which is raised when alarmed. In addition, the horns of males can reach up to 60 cm.

Ciervo de cola blanca (Odocoileus virginianus)

Este maravillo ungulado es de tamaño mediano, nativo de América con un gran rango de distribución que se extiende desde Canadá hasta Bolivia.

Es conocido por su distintivo lado inferior blanco de la cola, misma que se levanta cuando está alarmado. Además los cuernos de los machos pueden llegar a medir 60 cm.

The longhorn beetles are a family of beetles (Cerambycidae), typically characterized by extremely long antennae, which are often as long as or longer than the beetle's body.
