Fall is one of our favorite times of year. We look forward to spending time with moose all year long. This past fall was a whirlwind and we still have so many images to go through. In the meantime here is closer look at the handsome bull moose we recently shared. His unique antlers are so cool, we absolutely love all of his drop tines. This guy wasn't the biggest bull we saw this fall, but he was definitely a favorite. Have a great weekend everyone!
We still have so many brown bear images to share from all of the brown bear trips we led this past summer in Alaska. Here is a sow and her tiny new cub in a coastal sedge meadow. This mom brought her two tiny cubs out just days earlier and they were so curious about everything they saw. In this image you can see mom and one of her tiny cubs checking out what a nearby bear is doing. How adorable is this cub. Do you want to photograph brown bears with us? We still have spaces left on our coastal brown bear lodge trip. Contact us for details.
It's hard to believe it's already December. It seems like just yesterday we were in the field leading bear trips in Alaska. We had a blast on our coastal brown bear trips with a ton of bears and breathtaking scenery. We love capturing bears in their environment, and this bear was grazing in this sedge meadow surrounded by beautiful mountains. Here you can see the bear as she takes a rest and poses nicely in front of a striking coastal scene. It's hard to put into words how beautiful Alaska truly is. Sometimes we think these bears are stopping to take in the views as well. Do you want to photograph brown bears in scenes like this with us? Join us on an exclusive brown bear adventure from the comfort of a remote wilderness lodge. Message us or visit our site for details.
Here's an old favorite for Sunday Funday! Have a great day everyone!
We still have a ton of images to share from our travels this year but with the end of the year quickly approaching, we thought we'd spend the next few days sharing some of our favorite images from the past year. We love our time with caribou every year, it's always amazing to get out on the tundra with these unique animals. One of the highlights this year was the time we spent with this large bull caribou. He was easily one of the biggest bulls we've ever photographed and here he stopped to look our way on a high ridge that was ablaze with fall color. Keep checking back in the coming days for more of our favorites from 2023.
We've been so busy we still have so many bear images to share from this past year and feel like we've bear-ly (see what I did there?) scratched the surface. Despite having tons of new stuff still to share we thought we'd still share some favorite images from the past year. Obviously if you follow us you know we love bears and spend a ton of time with them. We also love getting low and loved having the opportunity to photograph this bear from a low angle as he moved through the creek looking for salmon. We think the low angle really ads to the shot. We never tire being around these animals. Keep checking back for more of our favorite images from 2023.
Continuing to share some of our favorite images from 2023, we'll share a new species for us in 2023. We were excited to take a trip to try and find and photograph muskox this past fall, and we really enjoyed our time with them. It was amazing to be out on the tundra with these arctic warriors as the fall colors were changing, and their annual rut kicked off. This handsome bull came over to check us out and make sure we weren't a threat to his herd. We love how the wind swept through his fur as he stood steadfast guarding his herd. Check back tomorrow to see the last of our favorites from 2023.

We hope everyone is having a good start to the new year. Did you make a New Year's resolution? This bear did, his resolution is to eat more fish...just like last year. Happy New Year's everyone!
Happy Sunday Funday everyone!
One of our favorite subject to photograph every year is moose during the rut. We look forward to every fall and love our time with these giants. This past year we were able to mix things up and spend more time in different areas. This bull moose treated us as he moved through the brilliant fall color on his way to find a lady. Here you can see him looking determined as he moves through the brush. He is quite imposing when coming straight at you!
Here is a favorite brown bear image for Sunday Funday! How adorable are these two?
A handsome bull moose on the fall tundra!
A big gnarly brown bear at sunset. Happy Sunday Funday everyone!
We know we post a lot of bears and moose but owls have been a favorite subjunctive for a long time. Here’s a great grey owl in the snow.
Raise your hand…or paws if you’re ready for summer! This bear certainly is!
It may be the dead of winter but summer is right around the corner. Join us for an exclusive Alaskan brown bear adventure from the comfort of a remote wilderness lodge.
Brown bears are one of our favorite subjects, and for obvious reasons, brown bears with cubs are near the top. This beautiful mom and her 3 tiny cubs were spending the afternoon relaxing on this gravel bar near a pool full of salmon. Unlike some moms, this sow would not back down when other bears approached, she would sit up and make sure the other bear knew she wasn't messing around. Here you can see mom sitting up with there three young cubs close under her as she lets an approaching bear know that getting too close isn't a good idea. What a great mom!
We love photographing moose during the rut. The changing fall foliage, the bulls shedding their velvet and pursuing cows, it's just an amazing time of year to spend with these incredible animals. This past fall, while exploring an area we hadn't spent much time in, we came across a large bull bedded in the forest. After a short time this bull abruptly got up, and moved off into the trees. We figured he had caught wind of a cow, but that was not the case. It didn't take long for us to see another large bull, walking slowly, wagging his antlers side to side and approaching the other bull. This posturing is a challenge, and usually ends in the subordinate bull backing down. On this day however, the quickly sprang into action and ran at each other and locked antlers. The ensuing battle was short but intense. The two bulls took turns pushing each other back and forth, trampling any small trees or bushes that were in their way. They would break their horns apart and spin, trying to catch the other bull broadside. This went of for a few minutes, before the older of the two bulls claimed victory and chased the other bull off. Here you can see the two bulls fiercely pushing each other, trying to except their dominance. There are few things as thrilling as seeing a knock down drag out moose fight in person!
For Superb-Owl Sunday, we thought we'd share an image of a beautiful snowy owl from the Canadian sub-arctic. This was an unexpected treat, we always love seeing owls, no matter where we are. How cool is this guy?
To say we've been busy would be an understatement. We have wrapped up our winter tours in Yellowstone after nearly a month straight of workshops. We have also been working on a huge new project we'll be sharing more about soon. Winter is a special time in the park, and even though there has been less snow than normal, there were still plenty of special moments. As we wrap up our winter here is an image of a small herd of bison making their way across the magical winter landscape that is Yellowstone. Join us next winter to experience that magic of Yellowstone!
We're not sure how this mom brown bear got her 3 cubs to get perfectly in line with her, but we're so glad she did. Young brown bear cubs like these three will keep a close eye on mom and often mimic her actions. This is how they learn how to be bears, but also can make for some very cute moments like this. How adorable is this family?
We love the time we spend with moose every fall and are fortunate enough to get to photograph them in a number of different settings. This past fall, hanging out with this impressive bull was definitely a highlight. Here you can see this big fella as he effortlessly makes his way through the shrubs to keep up the cows he was interested in. We love how intense this guy looked, he always meant business. It's hard to beat a bull moose in the fall!
Happy International Polar Bear Day! Here is an image from a trip to photograph polar bears. This large male was definitely confident as he made his way down the beach. Words can't describe how awesome it was to see these amazing animals in person, we can't wait to see them again!
As spring creeps closer, bears will begin emerging from their dens and searching for food. Of all the bears emerging, typically moms with new cubs will be the last as they stay near the den longer to allow their tiny new babies to grow and gain strength a bit longer before setting out in a huge new world. This doesn't mean things are easy for the cubs, as they often still have to navigate early spring weather and other bears. Here is an image of a grizzly with a very young cub moving across the lingering snow in the mountains. The cub stays as close to mom as he can, trying to stay safe and learn everything he can. It's amazing to see how quickly these new cubs learn and adapt and so much fun to see them experience and discover everything for the first time. It won't be long before we start seeing moms and cubs and we can't wait to see them. Spring is one of our favorite times in the parks.
