Winter is one of the prettiest times to hike the Sinai Trail & a small group of hikers recently followed the trail into the highlands of St Katherine, visiting Jebel Abbas Basha - on whose summit an old Ottoman palace stands - & its surrounding wadis. Winters can be cold in the highlands - sometimes so cold water bottles freeze overnight! - but there's a good network of shelters on the Sinai Trail & hikers are accompanied by the Sinai's finest guides. The Sinai Trail is open for weekend trips & we'll be running our first thru hike since the beginning of the pandemic soon. It'll be a 24 day event divided into two 12 day parts with the first starting 15 Feb & the second 27 Feb. Sinai Travel is preparing for its first thru hike since the start of the pandemic in 2020! Starting on 15 Feb 2022 we'll be hiking a 380km, 24 day section of the trail starting at the Gulf of Aqaba & ending in the beautiful highlands of St Katherine. The thru hike is divided into two parts, each one 12 days. Hikers can join the first or second parts or both. As our first thru hike in two years it'll be an extra special event & a celebration of the Sinai Trail's survival in one of the most challenging chapters in its history.
