When storm Filomena whipped our stream into a torrent, it swept away everything in its path including part of our ceremony area.

It couldn’t have come at a better time (January 2021) as we had already been imagining a “new and improved” landscape which was designed for purpose. Welcome to our new ceremony area. We hope you love it as much as we do.

A shady sanctuary, away from the heat! 🌿
We built the Moroccan room to create an outdoor/indoor space that was light, but breezy and cool. The tiles are Zellīj, meaning hand chiselled. David and I picked them up from Fez, especially for these benches. 📸 .dickinson

Llenarías nuestra nevera antigua con botellines de cerveza o botellas de champagne?
Would you prefer to have our old ice box filled up with bottles of beer or bottles of champagne?

The Persian silk trees are bringing a little pazzaz to our carpark! 💞

🌳 ”Albizia julibrissin” - Julibrissin comes from the Persian word gul-ebruschin, meaning floss silk, in reference to the silky strands of the flowers.

Feliz día de trabajador - Happy Labour Day .
🌎 Celebrating and grateful to all the front line workers who have been working above and beyond during the pandemic but also all those who desperately want to work but can't. I'm thinking of all those who have lost their jobs and also those in the hospitality industry. Not just the bars and restaurants but the event caterers, the wedding venues, the hotels, the musicians and the DJs who are just about still hanging on in there.

The only relation this image has to work is that there was a bit of labour involved putting eight iron candelabra sconces together to make the fancy bit 😅

It's Blossom Watch Day (in the UK) which ties in nicely with the challenge we set ourselves to have a tree in bloom each month of the year. Mimosas happily self seed all over the Andalucián countryside in early April and seem to thrive on poor soil and zero attention both of which can be provided at el Rancho. Good news round the corner? Currently el Rancho is permitted to host weddings for up to 150 guests. Outside. Now with promising news of digital travel certificates, there's every reason to hope we could be back to hosting destination weddings as early as June. 🤞

Things can only get better. 💃🏻🎉👏

David's Coral Tree. It's very much like him. Not subtle, impossible to ignore, and guaranteed to raise a smile. He bought it as a little pot plant in a market in South Africa, stuffed it in his suitcase and plonked it in the ground at El Rancho, with love and optimism, but no care or attention! I never thought it would survive, but after nearly 20 years of neglect it delights with its stunning fiery blooms every March, aiding our objective of having a tree in flower every month of the year.
The mimosa on the left is about to make it a double act.
