Foundation Finland 100 in NL

The Vereniging Nederland-Finland (VNF), Finnish Duch Chamber of Commerce (FDCC), Foundation Finland 100 and the Embassy of Finland warmly invite you to celebrate Finland's 106th Independence Day on Saturday, 9th of December at 17:00 - 20:30 (CET) in Pathé Buitenhof, The Hague.

The celebration will begin with a welcoming reception and continue with the movie premiere of the Finnish film 'Kuolleet Lehdet' (Fallen Leaves) by Aki Kaurismäki at the movie theater. This event will be including meal, drinks and movie tickets.

Tickets for this special occasion cost € 65, but the members of the VNF and FDCC get a discount when they register for the event through their own organization. Would you like to see 100 unique “Suomi100” tulips blooming in your own garden next spring?
We are now auctioning a package of 100 tulip bulbs. Make an offer and support the maintenance of the Finland100Park in this way!

Yesterday, at the 100th anniversary party of the Vereniging Nederland Finland we sold the very first 100 'Suomi 100' tulip bulbs by auction. Robin made the final bid and today he was already planting the bulbs in his home garden. The Foundation Finland 100 in NL will use the received amount of money for the maintance of the Finland100Park.
According the latest planning the 'Suomi 100' tulip bulbs will be available in the market after Summer 2024.

The Finland100Park needs you!

The park is a great success! It grows and flourishes. The grass needs mowing twice a week when the weather is optimal! Dirk and Ruud have asked for help from the Finnish community.
There are two machines which can be used simultaneously. With some instructions they are fairly easy to handle. One round of mowing takes some 5 hours. So, if you come as a couple / duo, the time is shorter.
Wednesday and Saturday are the best slots as there are people around and you can enjoy the famous ‘Collegium Molenaarum’ lunch around 13.

Spring picnic in the Finland100Park in the Netherlands was a bliss. I had a chance to show my Great Ladies statues in the middle of a Finnish birch forest - right in the Netherlands! The weather was fantastic, the visitors were lovely, and the Nordic salmon, sausages and cinnamon buns by @ehtacatering just excellent. I couldn’t imagine a more suitable place and event for my Ladies. The forest is after all their natural habitat. Also children enjoyed the statues. Amazing @solijohans organised an orienteering competition for children to find all the statues, which was a great fun to follow. The sun was shining, there were many new guests, there were sculptures by Sanna Pöyhönen, there was “animal hunting” for the children, music, delicious food… It was the spring picnic in the Finland100Park! The beautiful Suomi100 tulip welcomed today the hard workers at the entrance of the Finland100Park.
Now all the birches have been checked, many tags have been added and a list of the at the moment missing tags has been made for a new order.

Dear Friend of the Finland100Park,

We are pleased to invite you for the traditional spring picnic in the Finland100Park on Sunday 21 May 2023.

We will start at 13.00 hours. You are free to take your own picnic food and drinks with you. You can also buy coffee, drinks and Finnish delicacies from the pop-up café of Ehta Catering.

This time there will also be in the park an exhibition of sculptures by Sanna Pöyhönen, a Finnish artist living in The Netherlands (www.sannapoyhonen.com). The statues on display are called Great Ladies (Mahtinaiset). They are inspired by the mighty females of Finnish mythology, and the deep connection the Nordic people have with their forests, lakes and animals. Specially for children, there will be a game “sculpture hunting/find the animals” with nice prizes.

The Suomi100 tulips are slowly waking up in Keukenhof. They can be found in the same area where they have been before (close to the entrance), but this time they are perhaps not so easy to find...

Although March is the first month of spring it was still very much winter earlier this week in the Finland100Park.

Happy Independence Day!

Ambassador Ilkka-Pekka Similä, Defence Attaché Misa Kangaste and Mayor Marianne Schuurmans hoisted today traditionally the Finnish flag in the Finland100Park.

It was nice to see that so many of you were able to come and follow this ceremony.

On Finnish Independence Day, the Ambassador of Finland, H.E. Ilkka-Pekka Similä will raise the Finnish flag in the Finland100Park. The Foundation Finland 100 warmly welcomes you to this ceremony to honor Finland's 105th Independence Day.

Coffee will be served starting 8:30, and the ceremony itself begins at 9:00.

Now autumn colours in Finland100Park, but in the spring the white Suomi100 tulip will welcome you again to have a walk between the birches. Did you know that you can now also use our new swing in the park?

On a sunny Sunday in June, the spring picknic in the Finland100Park, last time with Ambassador Päivi Kaukoranta. We wish her all the best for the future and hope to see her back in the park again some day!

Yesterday our Board member Rune Frants became Knight 1st class in the Order of the White Rose of Finland.
Rune, congratulations and we are happy and proud to have you as our colleague in the Board of the Foundation.

This year the traditional Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony of the foundation Finland100 in The Netherlands was organised in Finland100Park on a small scale, due to the corona restrictions. Ambassador Päivi Kaukoranta hoisted the flag this morning, assisted by the land owner, Dirk Molenaar and a few members of the board of the foundation. A small group of local Finns and friends of Finland attended the ceremony. After the flag-hoisting, singing the Finnish national anthem Maamme was also this time a traditional part of the ceremony.

The Suomi100 tulip in Finland100Park is now flowering!

It was time to do some maintenance in the Finland100Park 🇫🇮. The name tags of all trees got new binders and the tree rows were better marked. Now it’s easy to find your own tree.
Because of the cool spring weather, the Suomi100 tulip is not yet flowering, but it will not last long any more. 🌷
