In this photo you see a T-shaped witch's drum hammer (in Finnish päristin) made of reindeer antler 🦌 It was found in the Kaakkurilammi residential area of Kuolajärvi's Onkamo in 1898.
This drum hammer originates from the 17th century and it shows the region's own distinctive decoration. The sawtooth pattern is seen a lot in Kuolajärvi Same suits and accessories.
Most people in "SALLA - in the middle of nowhere" have strong Forest Same roots.

Kuvassa Kuolajärven Onkamon Kaakkurilammen asuinkentästä vuonna 1898 löytynyt poronsarvesta valmistettu T-mallinen noitarummun vasara eli päristin. Päristin on 1600-luvulta ja siinä nähdään alueen omaa koristelua. Sahalaitakuviota nähdään paljon mm. Kuolajärven puvuissa ja asusteissa.

– Revontulikausi on alkanut Lapissa. Itse muutin Sallaan asumaan pimeiden tähtitaivaiden ja revontulien takia. Pitkä ja valoisa kesä on nyt ohi ja yöt pimenevät nopeasti. Ohessa kuva Sallan ruuhijärveltä 28.8.2021. Tuolloin oli yllättävän iso ja pitkäkestoinen revontulinäytös. Tulet täyttivät aivan koko taivaan ja näkyivät etelä-Suomessa asti.
