For 20 years he had his own engineering business, mainly Agricultural design work and machinery repairs.

Of those twenty years 5 include a business called Converted2gas which main activity was converting petrol engines cars to run on LPGas, in the five year period he employed 5 people and they converted over 300 vehicles, which included mini Buses, Vans, Saloon cars, campers and a couple of high performance cars BMW 750i, GTis, Alfa Romeos also some classic cars like 1950’s Jaguars.

It has always been a concern that the Diesel engine had been misrepresented as a “clean” engine, Ian’s years in engineering College had taught him all about diesel combustion it is not for mass usage.

Electric has come of age, Technology has now given electricity a completely different application, with super power batteries, highly efficient motors and technologies adding support, in transmissions, power saving, high speed charging, we are about to witness a Revolution never seen since the railways spread across the world.

The mainstream vehicle manufacturing companies can’t move faster enough to grasp the incredible opportunity.

Ian has always had a passion for China and the way it was developing, Ian considers that China holds the key to Electric vehicle adoption.

The company has contacted and spoken to many many companies in China, but they do not consider the UK a viable market.

Though in the UK, we now see Chinese influence or even ownership of flagship marks.

Volvo, MG, Great wall, Morris Commercial and LDV.

The company believes that Chinese components can be found in all cars.

The products that we am attempting to import are not themselves for sale, they are for test and evaluation whilst they will run on the road, this is for purely demonstration purposes and we have agreement for the insuring these vehicles.

We need to take ourselves through the car manufacturing process from beginning to end, this includes the necessary steps of Type Approval.

It is the criticism along the way that will make our vehicles safe and efficient, within this process it is imperative that, we must also be able to survive as a company.

The IVA individual type Approval is about allowing small companies to flourish to develop new vehicles to be safe and companies to survive.

The PLAN

The ultimate goal in possibly four years is to create a completely new range of Electric Logistic trucks made out of plastic. These vehicles will be developed and constructed to make the operators life safe and comfortable.

Too many times companies buy vehicles of a size or shape to save money, rather than to provide a safe environment for the crew and hence the public at large.

The PROCESS

We are at the end of the beginning of the first stage, there are three stages to the full completed PLAN.

Part one is the creation of the income stream through two vehicles.

A, Building a viable range of small electric inexpensive trucks.

B, creating a small viable electric car for inner city use.

Both these vehicles are developed in China and are not commercially available anywhere in the world.

Part two, to be carried out in India, is the creation of a range of vehicles, Urban logistic vehicles, Goods vehicles, Vans, small and medium trucks to 7500Kg GVW.

As a spinoff from the ULV design concept will be a range of Electric cars, these will be beautiful designs but still inexpensive and efficient.

The Part two vehicles will allow the testing and development of various technologies to be incorporated into the final concept the Plastic Truck ‘PULV’

People will think this is an enormous task, I don’t see that, I see a doable project, Ian has pretty much worked on his own till now.

He has supreme confidence in his own abilities and the abilities of those that work with him.

All of the members of the companies teams, both in China and India have chosen themselves to be part of this journey.

All will have doubts but all have the passion which is most important.

Ian has been a working Engineer all his working life, oil and grease up to his elbows. He has dismantled Engines, Transmissions, even whole machines and rebuilt them.

In some cases having trudged up mountains with a tool box on his shoulder to repair giant mobile drilling rigs.

The boss has never sat in an office with a slide rule and an abacus, but has designed and built portal frame buildings, yes on his own.

They still stand today, 20 years on.

For five years Ian ran a company converting 100s of petrol Engine vehicles to run on Gas.

I this case he designed the systems, created the hard ware, we even retailed more LPgas than any service station I the UK.

The company imported all the Components straight from Italy.
