It’s time to celebrate as it was announced yesterday that the Tour de France 2025 is coming to our hometown of Chinon here in the Loire Valley and passing through Richelieu the two closest towns to us here at Loire Brakes - we are so excited! Mistletoe and Wine

Autumn scenes here in the Loire Valley

A stunning scene last night in Chinon.
The reflection of the mighty Fortress in the mirror of the waters of the swollen Vienne river was breathtaking.
Here in the Loire Valley the rivers are untamed and so from a lazy river with revealed ‘beaches’ during the summer that all changes when the rains come (or the snow melts in the Alps) - the rivers will swell with the ancient levies protecting the towns and villages.

When starting a business there are so many worries and doubts, starting up in a different country 🤪 must be mad.
We started our little cycling holiday adventure in 2019, there have been a few headline obstacles on our journey, a pandemic, leaving the EU and war.
The negative voices in our heads probably being the biggest barrier. Our friends and family have supported us like rocks, so the 2 latest reviews are dedicated to them for all there help bringing us to where we are today.

We have had the most amazing experience helping Bea and Etianne with their vendange. Their first day was harvesting the red Cabernet Franc grapes with the help of friends. The red grapes will be gently pressed to extract only the juice to make a wonderful natural white wine. Bea is so very passionate and they are both so hard working we love and admire them for what they are doing. Thanks to them and our friends , , .laue for such a wonderful time. La vie en France est belle!

Today we felt the freedom of being back on our e-bikes re-discovering the sights and sounds of the beautiful Loire Valley

It’s that time of year here in France - greengages, mirabelles and plums a plenty. Time to pick and preserve for the future.

On this beautiful sun kissed day here in France friends and families are celebrating the 14th July as Fête National, also know as Bastille Day outside of France. A swim in the pool, a game of pétanque, bbq and wine while chatting and laughing and finally a firework display which occurs in almost every village and town around half ten once the sun has gone down! Tchin, tchin!

A hot tub is the name given to describe a tub filled with hot water for people to relax in, usually outdoors.
