After moving out from Okinawa, I tried to promote okinawa kobudo on Crete island. What a surprise it was, to find a picture of Adaniya sensei on the wall of Karaiskakis sensei's dojo, in Heraklion. Adaniya sensei had been my first sensei for a decade before Ishiki sensei. So, very naturally, I demonstrated the hojoundo that he had taught to me, facing his picture.

I was in the ryukyu shimpo, once :)
The event was the 24th All Okinawa Kobudo and Contact karate tournament of June 19th, 2016 ; the article is celebrating the victory of Miyazato san in adult bo, while featuring pictures of the podium in bo (up) and "others" (as in anything but bo or sai)(bottom). With Ishiki sensei and myself holding third spots.
Interview of hanshi judan Kinjo Takashi 範士十段金城孝. Interesting bits about his take on uechi ryu and kobudo, and life quests. Short presentation of sai, tonfa and the tinaka (three prong handle ?).
He is one of the first students of Matayoshi Shimpo sensei, if not the first, having started in 1964, 6 years before the foundation of the kodokan. He got "removed" later on, sometimes in the 80s, and went on to create his own organization, the kobukai 孝武会, in which he was able to further develop his vision of kobudo.

My team
I have only just heard about Nicolas Perez passing away. I had only met him once at an enbu on Okinawa, at Nakamura sensei's dojo. I know that he had a lot of help to come settle in in Okinawa from other people than me, nevertheless I like to think that I had inspired him on this path. I am very sad for him, he was a nice guy, with very decent technique.

Quentin Gloaguen, Grégory Joubès, and Hassan Rehaiem have been graded to shodan within the French Karate Federation, in Kobudo.. with Adaniya sensei in the jury, on a grading syllabus prepared by Oshiro Zenei sensei, while my students were wearing the crest of Ishiki Hidetada sensei !

Converted a chord sansetsukon, to a chain sansetsukon. The chain is attached to a swivel, which brings, I think, a huge improvement upon the shureido equivalent. I am having a lot of fun, furbishing my students :)
Nakama Shintoshi, shugoro no nunchaku dai san. 演武は教士八段仲間信俊教です。He was kyoshi 8th dan at the time. Now 9th dan. Recorded at the 13th karatedo kobudo enbu taikai of the okinawa karatedo shorin ryu shorinkan kyokai at the Urasoe Shiminkaikan, of June 18th, 1995.

Wrapping up the seminar with my very first black belts. These guys never missed a class, even when we had no room and were using parking lots instead, even under the rain, or in winter with negative degrees (°C). My most sincere congratulations ㊗ ㊗

Congratulations, sensei !
Kinjo Kazuya (金城和也), winning gold in the male adult division, with Ufutun bo 大屯棒. He is one of the top students of Yamashiro Kenichi sensei 山城健一先生. He has most noticeably overcome Kinjo Kenta san, former gold medal 2018.
