The lovely Sinead welcomed her little baby BOY into the world 09/06. Reginald Davies, weighing a healthy 7lb 15ozs and one extremely adorable little babe.

We want to extend our huge congratulations to Sinead and Harry and we hope your new bundle of joy brings lots of happiness into your lives. I can confirm he gives the best cuddles 🥰

A Friday morning delivery that brightens a cleaners day 🤩

We had a one off booked in yesterday for a deep clean of bathroom and kitchen.

Some photos taken along the way, but I had my head down in the zone that there were a few missed opportunities for those epic before and afters! ✨

I absolutely love one off cleans. They tend to always be deeper cleans which I LOVE, and the fact you’re able to go in and make an immediate difference to someone’s home is heartwarming when you know how much it means.

Rolling over from last weeks with the theme still running on our fury friends, I’d like to mention the wonderful The Running with Dogs Company.

Adam and Dan are a reputable and reliable doggy daycare service, with Adam also a member of the APDT and an excellent positive reinforcement dog trainer with frequent courses running.

I really can’t recommend these guys enough, they are already well known within the Andover/dog owner community, but as clients of my own it wouldn’t feel right not to shout about the amazing work these guys do.

If you need a positive environment for your dogs to be looked after, with pick ups and drop offs included, a stimulating environment with lots of fuss and love there really is no better hands to help.

We love a hoover line. To keep your carpets fresh it’s recommended to hoover 2-3 times a week… or if your like me and love a good hoover… everyday 😆

Our half yearly clean complete this morning at Green Lane Groomers ✨

Which leads me nicely on to this weeks . Emily runs this well established cat and dog groomers with over 10 years qualified experience.
Such an amazing person to entrust with your fur babies and its always been a pleasure to support another local business by taking one thing off their shoulders to deep clean the salon.

Highly recommend Emily, alongside April’s Farm which offer two enclosed fields you can hire to let your pooches run and play without any worry as it’s fully secure.

Today’s subject- Hourly rates.

With every self employed person either submitting their tax return or in the process of doing for tax year 2023-2024 I thought I would shed some light on the topic of ‘Self Employed’ rates and what is overlooked on a quote/price.

There is an incorrect assumption that self employed people earn all this money- and I can ASSURE you what you pay is not what we take home!

Alongside this we don’t have the perks of (some) employed roles, such as paid holiday, sickness pay, pension contributions, bonus/rewards schemes, emergency leave, etc etc.

I’ve pulled together a little chart below to highlight what goes into my specific rate to ensure I am compliant, provide high end services with high end equipment, and to hopefully guide a more empathetic view when you reach out to a self employed person in debate and try to negotiate a lower price.

After a tax return is filed with the business expenses, and the contributon to Tax and NI paid, the average hourly rate for ALL hours worked (not just what you see) is £57% of my actual rate.

Being self employed is one of the most courageous ways to earn money in today’s society.

It isn’t:
‘Working the hours you want’
‘Finishing early every day’
‘Freedom’
‘Having a day off whenever you want’
‘Unlimited holiday’

It’s hard graft, resilience, tough decisions and long days. I have never worked as hard as I do now with minimal time off.

I absolutely love my job and my clients, and I wouldn’t change the decision I made to go self employed. However it does come with a lot of sacrifice.

So please 🙏🏻 when you reach out to a self employed person in any trade, take into consideration (like everything else in the world these days) it costs a lot to run a business and provide you with the tools needed to carry out the work.

We also need to pay our bills, have time off to rest, sometimes we’re sick, we need to also think of our future past retirement age, and this needs to come out of our left over hourly rate.

As always, I pride myself on transparency and honesty so I hope this post has given you some insight on what you may not see ‘behind the scenes’

The scents carry through your home for days, plastic free, soy, handmade and there is such a wide range of fragrance and essential oils- plus Amy has just launched the giant wax welts so more for your money!

We have one of our hoovers for sale. (Hoover only)

Brought may 2023, so a year old. It was a limited edition 25% more suction, and the best hoover ever owned from shark. It is no longer in existence, but all parts can still be brought from shark if anything was to ever become faulty.

Dust cap and motor replaced March this year (£105 spent) obviously due to high useage.

Immaculate condition, no issues or faults, all cleaned ready to go.

Brought for £350 so looking for £220

Let’s talk toilet stains (again! But not the seat this time)….

We see a lot of these in our day to day cleans, they’re a mixture of limescale, calcium, urine and mould.

The BEST off the shelf product is Harpic black- picture attached. Different methods will depend on the toughness of the stain:

👉🏻 For light stains, apply this to your toilet and leave for one hour and use a brush to clean away.
👉🏻 For slightly more stubborn stains leave overnight and follow the same process.
👉🏻 For tough stains, drain the water from the bowl and apply the gel generously. If the stains are also going up the bowl I recommend applying the gel and I use cotton wool pads to place over the top to hold the product in place. Leave overnight and clean with a brush.

To prevent these stains:
🚽 Flush the toilet after every use.
💦 Twice a week apply a small amount of Harpic to your toilet water at night (no need to apply around the whole rim) just a dash in the water and give it a brush in the morning.
🧼 A thorough toilet clean once a week including under rim.
🪠 Invest in a toilet brush- not those weird rubber ones- they really are useless. A soft bristled brush will NOT damage your toilet, and for all those that think there’re unhygienic- they’re not if you keep them disinfected 🙃

May 13th-19th mental health awareness week.

I absolutely love there is a week dedicated to talking about mental health. It affects so many people in a variety of ways, whether you struggle personally or support loved ones, somehow we are all touched by the affects and it’s important to talk about all year round, not just one week of the year.

This topic will always be a close subject to my heart. Growing up around people with mental health struggles, and even myself facing some very turbulent years.

I will never shy away from talking about my own challenges because if they help one person it’s always worth it. I take pride in running my business with minimal impact from my intrusive thoughts. I show up each day presenting the best version of myself even on the days it feels impossible. But for those that know me well will know I’ve faced a tough 5 years and I really wouldn’t have got through any of it without my amazing partner and parents for standing by me and pulling me through. I saw a post a few weeks ago and it really resonated with me- ‘Grit is the mental toughness and passion that’s propels you toward achieving your vision for life’.
On the tough days letting yourself feel those emotions and having the resilience to pull yourself through and out the other side, it’s hard, it takes work, you have to be patient and forgiving, but it’s possible.

So here is your reminder that a problem shared is a problem halved. On the days where I saw only one way out, please know and put trust in those around you to help you see there is more than one outcome and that you CAN get through it.

In light of MHAW I will be offering a free ‘mental health clean’. I would really love to help someone who is struggling, who needs some help with their home, and maybe even have a cuppa, some cake and a natter.

Please tag anyone you feel needs this, even if it’s yourself… I want to help. I don’t want an explanation, because mental health doesn’t need an explanation.

I’m a small team and can’t help everyone, but would love to give the opportunity to support someone in real need to get things back on track. So please be genuine in your tags 💚

This is our go to kit for a Shower/Bath….

Astonish Bathroom cleaner:
🧼 Great for soap scum and watermarks
🚿 For minimal limescaled shower screens- excellent for a shiny steak free finish
🙅🏼‍♀️ Wouldn’t reccomend for heavily limescaled bathrooms
👃🏻 Smells incredible
🐰🌿 Cruelty free

I will always promote astonish products they really do have an extensive products range with high end results.

Viakal- this is the best of the best for limescale!
🧼 Highly effective for limescale, tough soap residue and body fats
😷 I would recommend wearing gloves and a mask for high usage (a cleaner). For your homes just be wary of the strong fumes and keep a window open.
🧽 You need to ensure you rinse this product off to ensure no damage to surfaces and then buff off with a dry cloth for that ✨ finish.
📈 Always read the data sheet before using, you don’t want to cause damage- we see a lot of slate and granite ruined by such a harsh chemical and it’s costly to get these professionally resealed.

My go to shower routine:
- Spray highly limescaled areas with Viakal and leave (max 5 mins)
- Use a scrub daddy (yellow smiley sponge pictured) to scrub the surfaces
- Rinse with hot water and squeegee down screens
- Use astonish bathroom cleaner to clean out bath/shower tray, clean tiles, and squeegee residue away
- For stained/mouldy grout astonish bathroom cleaner and a toothbrush- time consuming but worth it! DO NOT USE BLEACH! (For heavy mould areas would recommend the Kilrock brush on mould and mildew)
- Buff with a dry miscrofibre cloth

🌟 Top tip to keep your shower cleaning routine minimal- squeegeeing your shower after every use will really help reduce an extensive cleaning routine. It’s really not that time consuming and takes all of about 1 minute-
Saves 30 mins of deep cleaning every week 😁

My go to products to bring your oven back to life…

Elbow Grease- prefably the washing up spray, the concentrate is alot higher! Spray inside the oven and wait to soak in for 15-30 mins. If you can pre heat your oven just before too it helps!

Astonish The go to thing cleaning paste- this is the best product to get the bottom and side stubborn grease residue off. Also amazing for the glass, and the racks. Use with a Spontex scourer and a glass scraper if super tough.

I soak the racks whilst cleaning the oven in hot water and washing up liquid- you can then clean these quite easily with a scourer and the grease should lift away.
🌟 little hack- buy a large box from the range to fill and soak your racks in! Game changer 🙌🏻

A steamer can also lift those tough areas your arm can’t quite reach, and great for lifting grease!

I DO NOT recommend oven pride- the products shown here
are a lot more effective and none damaging to your oven or surfaces surrounding 😁

If you know me you know how particular I am with a sofa, especially mine 🤣

Nothing better than a hoover down, get all those left over crumbs out, dog/cat hairs, laugh at the random objects you find and then a plump and dress. In my opinion it completely changes a living room.

- Stubborn marks on your saucepans

- Hobs- the ceramic one especially- this is great for buffing off those stubborn marks

Let’s talk stained toilet seats…

We see this a lot, and is caused by a number of reasons. Most people will grab the bleach to try and remove BUT this won’t work and can in fact cause the stain to worsen.

We’ve tried and tested lots of products but have found this to be one of the best to remove those pesky stains. Warm water mixed with the paste and depending on the stubbornness of the stain a Brillo pad. Et voila ✨

Astonish products will always be our favourite to use, not only are they cruelty free, they use recyclable packaging, exclude harmful chemicals and in our opinion give the best results 🧼
