Swinging the kinetic customs raptor again today. Trying to get used to it over my estwing. Slowly getting there and it’s a stunning hammer.

Old fence and gates removed and nice new 5ft fence and driveway gates made and hung using decent hinges and braced correctly to minimise any sagging. We had old fence disposed of for customer also. Another fence finished up this week. 14m of 6ft boarded fencing. Original fence was rotten so was taken down and disposed of. There were original 3 ft concrete posts in the ground so we bolted 6ft posts to them. They weren’t truly in line and most of them either needed packed slightly or the post notched to get them all plumb and straight. Another happy customer. This things a beast and bloody heavy. The 40v XGT 270mm track compatible circular saw with a cutting depth of a massive 104mm. With the 5ah batteries it weighs a bit but has loads of grunt and can do a 4x4 post in one pass.

An attempt at an MFT top to help me with cutting and fit clamping etc when screwing stuff together or using the router. Not bad for a dull 20mm speed bore bit and a 1400mm festool track combined with a benchdogs rail square. I’m a mm out over the diagonals. No jig at all just makes them all at 100mm 🤣

Well what can I say about this? A customer called looking this sorted out. Usually I steer clear from someone else’s mess but thought I could make this right for her. I’ll not mention the guys name but it’s bad when I managed to guess who done it on the first attempt 😂🥴. Please bear in mind 2 things. Firstly cheapest is usually cheap for a reason and secondly , please get someone that has a vague idea of what they are doing. 60mm decking screws where too long and we’re sticking out the back of the rails. Hinges were behind boards on the gates so boards on outside couldn’t be attached. Braces wrong way on gates and secured with a couple of decking screws. A mixture of 4 inch and 6 inch T hinges had been used and we replaced them with 12 inch galvanised hinges . Screws that were sticking out also had been beat over with a hammer making then awkward to get out. Gates where also binding on each other. Also the previous person had attempted to lay 5/6 2x2 flags and they weren’t close to level a couple had been broken and tried to be bluffed in with K-post and sand. Tops of all posts had been left 8/10 inches above fence so I’d no choice but to cut them and treat them with wood preserver. I also boarded inside of fence while I was there , reflagged the last row replacing any broken or badly laid flags and the gates are hung correctly with the bracing now doing it’s job of being under compression thus limiting the sag of the gates. I also put a ratchet strap round one of the gate posts to pull it into plumb as it was off 22mm over the height of the post. I’ve to nip back to put a monkey tail bolt on the right hand gate as I didn’t want to drill into the flag until the cement had set. Looks a hundred times better now and another happy customer. 18m of 6ft boarded fencing finished today. Old panelled fence had blown down and we replaced it and took old fence away. Challenging behind the back of shed as we only had a 6 inch gap so this section had to be accurately measured with the top suiting the gradient of the ground then made up on the ground and slid into place and secured with galvanised fixings. Also privacy section to cover oil tank. Give us a pm for fencing or many other joinery jobs. Thanks , J

Just wanting to wish all my customers, friends and family for their support last year. It’s been a steady year for work again so hopefully more of the same this year. Another panelling job from a good while back that I got finished painted photos from customer and forgot to post.

Whats everyone’s method for stopping skirtings that don’t end next and architrave or another piece of skirting. The 45 return along the whole profile or the 22.5 degree cut? The other one I’ve gone which I haven’t a photo of is the 45 down turn mitre. They all look smart if the cuts are neat. For me it’s the 45 return

Some panelling that i completed a while back. Customer has just sent photos of it painted and the painter said it the neatest panelling he’s painted in 30 years of painting.
