⭐️Client Shoutout Saturday ⭐️

Meet Gemma, has been coming to me for treatment consistently every few weeks for the past 18 months. One of Elev8’s OG’s(!) and she is honestly an absolute dream to have in the treatment studio.

What impresses me most (aside from us both being Swifties, 4 days apart in age and a mutual love for binging on Netflix’s Selling Sunset) is how invested and dedicated Gem is in her health and fitness💪

Despite having a demanding full time job and being a busy mum, Gem carves out time in her busy week to prioritise her fitness which includes a mix of strength sessions programmed by her brilliant pt, running and reformer pilates. A perfect mix of strength, conditioning and mobility. She’s also currently training for her 5th and 6th Hyrox 🏅 so a pretty all round badass!! 😎

Gem comes for regular maintenance soft tissue therapy to keep her body in optimal condition given her level of activity. Injury prevention is a high priority and because of the frequency of her visits, it means we are able to detect, treat and head off any niggles or issues early. Thankfully we’ve managed to keep her injury free 🙏

Good nutrition, sleep, recovery and hydration are also essential foundations to being able to maintain this level of fitness.

This week I met a lovely new client who has been living with chronic shoulder pain for 8 months before deciding to seek help with treatment 😳. Their normality had become not being able to lift their right arm above their head, difficulty putting on clothes over head, using the left arm to move the right due to loss of mobility and stiffness on waking. They are 40 years old, otherwise healthy, working a full time job with two young children. Lets start treating our bodies with the same TLC as we would our cars ❤️ 🙏

🍂 Happy 1st of September! 🍂

👋 Hope you’ve had a wonderful summer. The beginning of Autumn is always a busy one. The new school term, getting back into your routines - work, setting new health and fitness goals.

There are lots of Autumn events happening too. Great North Run, Oxford half marathon, Hyrox, Ultra marathons 🏃🏻 🏋️‍♂️ I’m looking forward to supporting my clients taking part in many of these with their prehab and recovery.

However, you don’t need to be super sporty and athletic to book an appointment! If you work in a job that puts strain on your body (that includes you too desk based workers 💻 !) or your body just needs a bit of TLC after running around after the kids all summer - give me a shout!

Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

It’s mental health awareness week and the focus for this year’s mental health awareness week is

For me it’s either yoga 🧘‍♀️ for the calm of
mind it brings or on the opposite scale, strength training 🏋️‍♂️ which always makes me feel quite badass when I need a confidence boost! 😃

Did you know strength training can help your running efficiency and protect you from running related injuries. I’ve had many conversations with my running clients on the benefits of incorporating strength training and this infographic from The Prehab Guys sets it out perfectly!

🏃Why is strength training important for runners? Running is an impact sport! Due to the fact that the most common running injuries can be associated with lower extremity strength deficits, it is extremely important to educate runners on WHY AND HOW they should perform strength training. A big takeaway from this infographic is that resistance training can help with running economy and efficiency by decreasing energy expenditure. Understanding this concept will help with understanding this graphic better!

Once again will be on site, pre and post race, to tend to your needs, be it some taping pre-race or some much needed attention post-race, Rachel is your go to.
