Christmas Home Visit
A home visit from a Pathway Pony means so much to the person they go to see at any time of year, especially if they live alone. At Christmas time however it means so so much more. Here is the time Darcy, in her Angel outfit, went to visit my darling Grandad and gorgeous niece 🥰 Check out the sounds of pure joy, excitement and love. Wish I could bottle it and listen to it over and over forever…..

Allowing ourselves time just to be quiet, still and take in the moment of spending time with the ponies can help us to understand so much….. What do you think can be learnt about the way we live our lives just from seeing the ponies interacting in this way this morning…….?

It was great to be back visiting our Fremantle friends at Chesham Leys again today! Darcy absolutely loved all the hugs, fuss, affection and of course the tasty carrot! It was so heartwarming to see the connections Darcy makes with the people she meets and to hear some of the residents recalling their equestrian days from traditional farming to Team Chasing and even gymkhanas! #therapeuticponies #mindfulmoments #mentalhealthmatters 💕

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆.... How do I know my ponies L̳O̳V̳E̳ their sessions. Well watch this video and see 🤣 I’m sure one of the other ponies would of agreed if I had approached them but I think Darcy made her decision clear! With every session I do the ponies have a 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 whether they want to engage. It’s wonderful when they say “yes please”, “pick me, pick me” 🙋🏼‍♀️🤣 and it’s 𝗼𝗸 “when they say no”. There are still many learning opportunities to be had just by observing the ponies as a herd from a distance in their paddock. The principle of consent reflects the right of individuals to determine what happens to their own bodies, and is a fundamental part of ethical practice. Permission and consent applies to ponies as well as people and is an important part of building trust Just like a person, if a pony is forced into doing something they really don’t feel comfortable doing and has expressed “no, not now “, we are likely to see a flight or fight behaviour, physical tension, or ‘fawn’ - internalized stress behaviours 😢 Unknowingly we could push them into a state of learned helplessness where their nervous system causes them to shut down as a survival mechanism. Supporting Learners to understand their own (and others) consent and boundaries has to start with teaching them to respect and understand the consent and boundaries of the ponies. PS How funny is Darcy pushing her way to the font and asking to be chosen 🤣🤣😍😍😍
