Wow it's been a long time since we updated this page! We have been busy with a wide variety of projects. Here's one from earlier this year.

We were contacted to ask about adding a shower into the downstairs toilet in the house. After a bit of careful consideration we came up with a solution involving part of the understair cupboard as well. The toilet was relocated to under the stairs and the shower fitted where the toilet used to be.

Here's a couple windows we repaired recently. The twin casement window had been glued shut with silicone at some stage, we were tasked with replacing broken glazing, stripping and repainting and restoring all casements to opening once more.

Here's a job from last week. We laid an engineered bamboo floor (tongues glued and secret nailed) and then ran redwood skirting around (fixed with screws and then plugged)

So it's been a little while since we have posted but that hasn't been because we weren't busy! We've just completed a full kitchen refit, a project that had some additional work required when we took the old kitchen out and discovered the floor was rotten! Old floor up, insulation between the joists (we had access so why not!), New floor down and then we could get started on building the new kitchen. During the work we also discovered the radiator needed changing as the old one prevented the oven from opening. And finally we finished everything off with a nice new glazed oak door. We think it's all come out great!

Kitchen was supplied by Wickes. Plastering was carried out by Micky Comer. Gas cooker supply removed by SJ plumbing. Flooring by Kings carpets.

Get in touch if you've got a project in mind we could help with.

We've been helping another team the last few days. They're renovating a vicarage and required a hand fitting closed cell insulation under the floor in the ground floor. Access could only be achieved by lifting the floorboards. We carefully lifted the floor installed the insulation, cleared the blocked air brick to ensure good airflow below the floor, fresh thicker lagging on the heating pipes, and then carefully refitted the floorboards.

This old wardrobe needed some love and we were asked to create some new planked effect handless doors. This required a total remake of the drawers with new soft- close roller bearing slides. The whole unit will be painted in due course once an appropriate colour has been chosen.

This utility room extension was suffering with damp. The render was bridging the DPC and the tarmac was over the old French drain and had been taken up and over the concrete footings and against the render. So we removed the render to 75mm above DPC, cut away the tarmac and exposed the French drain along with the concrete footings, replaced a badly damaged brick, fitted a new bellcast beading to 5mm above DPC and repaired the render, finally finished off the trench where the tarmac was removed with some plum slate chippings.

A project at home this time....
After years of fighting with condensation and damp in the utility room we finally decided the only way to move forward was to fit an extraction fan. As maintaining room temperature and heat efficiency was a high priority this compact BSK unit with heat recovery ticked the boxes - and has had a profound impact on the level of condensate. Finally got round to patching the paintwork over the weekend so can call this job a success now.

Here's some simple shelving we made for a clients shoe storage. As you can see everything fits nice and neatly.

Not a lot of photos to post this week. We have been busy with lots of small repairs preparing a customers house for sale.

Instead we will showcase some work from last year! Here is a Victorian school porch where we stripped and oiled the trusses and repainted the sarkin boards.

Interesting office today as we do some conservation carpentry repairing the shrouding on a bell wheel. We are refixing the original timber where the nails have rusted through and where the original timbers are missing we have made new.

No photos of today's work, the day was spent clearing drains..... No-one wants to see that!

On the plus side, everything now runs nice and clean once again and a regular maintenance schedule should help things in the future ☺️

It's been a busy week this week with a variety of jobs: door fitting, door lock replacement, stair rail fitting, guttering repairs, installation of new extraction fan in a utility room, conservation repairs to a church bell wheel.

Looking forward to next week's jobs.
