Every painting I create starts from a memory I have from the sea. This memory inspires the colours I use, the transparency between waves, the swell, direction of spray and the size of the surf. Every element is deliberately detailed.
I’ve been surfing since I could walk. Apparently I used to take my horse teddy in the sea with me so she could enjoy the surf as much as I did… swipe for proof!
This is a very special piece for me, inspired by the day I came 2nd in the Women’s World Bellyboard Championships.
I attended the world belly’s with my Dad who got me into bodyboarding, surfing and bellyboarding - he’s the best bellyboarder I know! I surfed my heart out and came 2nd!
I remember the sea so clearly that day so when I teamed up with @bellyfishboards I knew exactly what sort of board/grain I was after, so he made this board specifically for me so I could paint my memory.
I’m honoured that this will now be exhibited at the RNLI Artshow this weekend. Come on down, support an amazing charity, check out some talented artists and have a glass of bubbles whilst you’re there!
