One of the things we’ve done at Coffee d’Ash, and part of the reason we exist as your favourite place to grab a coffee, is because figured out all the things that light us up.

The things that make us feel great and reenergise us.

Then.. we decided to do more of those things as often as possible!

Ashley LOVES to make great coffee - hence our tagline ‘Good coffee is our love language’.

So he turned his passion into his work!

Now he gets to do something that lights him up every single day.

We sometimes get asked why a flat white is smaller than a cappuccino or latte..

We also sometimes get asked for a large or small version of what we serve..

The reason we have set sizes for our drinks is because of the ‘golden recipe’!

Our coffee has the perfect ratio of coffee to milk and that is one of the reasons why it tastes so dam good 😍

To continue with the ratio in larger cups would mean we would have to add more coffee.. and 4 to 5 shots of coffee doesn’t feel responsible without a letter from your GP upon ordering 😂

All joking aside, the larger drinks are possible to make but our values and ethos remain with the Italian inspiration which is the ‘golden recipe’ we use and have shared with you today.

By all means, ask for an extra shot in your coffee, but our standard sizes will always remain.

‘You don’t always need a plan’ ☕️

This is one of my favourite quotes on our cups (although I’d probably say that about most of them 😂),

But it’s such a great reminder to slow down, to be in the present moment and, try your best to relax.

Things will work out.

When we decided to secure a shop because you all kept saying ‘you need a shop’ 😂, we didn’t have a plan for how we would make it come to fruition, we had no idea where the funding would come from.. we just knew that it would work out. Somehow.

We’re aiming to announce an official opening date on our birthday - 1st July - so watch this space.

In the meantime, all of your round ups and donations are hugely appreciated. Every 5p and every £1 adds up and helps us to create an incredible space for all to enjoy.

To see the space before anyone else, you’ll need an invite to the VIP launch. This is a minimum donation of £100 on our Go Fund Me page (so we can track it and email you your invite).

It can be done over smaller amounts but to get an invite to the VIP launch, your total donation must be £100.

It’s going to be a beautiful day 🖤

Dave Day is looking to be one of the biggest days in Barrow - probably THE biggest day in Barrow this year.

It’s so beautiful to know that so many people are coming out, and coming a long way, in tribute of a single man.

We’re honoured to be part of such a day.

Although the bikers are due to arrive around 4pm and music etc from then, the whole day is a tribute in memory of Dave and we will be at the Outdoor Market from 10am serving everyone who has been a part of putting the day together, and those of you who would rather not be in town when the 1000s of bikers arrive.

Our much loved hot chocolate is changing.. 🍫

Quality is very important to us which is why we use real chocolate for our hot chocolates and mochas but price point is also important to us.

Our prices are already lower than average, and even with a price increase we are STILL coming in at a lower price point than other high street coffee shops.

Here are our new prices for hot chocolates and mochas:

🍫 8oz hot chocolate - £2.95
🍫 12oz hot chocolate - £3.45

☕️ Single mocha - £3.15
☕️ Double mocha - £3.70

We hope that one day we can bring these prices back down if the market changes again or when we’re in a better position to absorb some of the price increase.

For now, we have had to match our suppliers increase. Not a penny more.

We take pride in our prices..

Our prices are inspired by our Italian links and it was one of the driving forces to starting Coffee d’Ash.

As we continue to renovate and move into the shop with our very first coffee bar we continue to ask for your help and support in whatever way you can.

Yes, we could get a business loan to pay for all of the things necessary to open.

But with a business loan comes more overheads which means we would have to reconsider our prices - which would genuinely break our hearts 💔

We have so much love and passion for this community that is building around us, as Coffee d’Ash and within the town centre, and we want to give you a place that feels not only welcoming but like a home from home.

A great place that breeds positivity, community and high spirits.

And, ofc, a place that you can grab your coffee whilst staying warm and dry when autumn and winter come around - or you know.. generally our lovely British summer 😂

We can’t leave it to someone else..

First of all, we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone that is a part of our coffee community.

To each one of you who has gotten on board the Coffee d’Ash train, sees what we’re aiming to do and have supported us in whatever way you can 🙏🏻

Secondly, those Google definitions of ‘community’ all boils down to 2 things.

A group of people in the same area/living conditions..
And having similar values, attitudes and responsibilities.

A lot of what we hear from people in the Barrow community is that the high street is dead, all the shops are empty and there’s nothing to do.

That is an attitude of the community..
The underlying value in what’s being said is that, you don’t WANT the town centre to be dead and empty..

But it’s the responsibility and ownership part of ‘community’ that is missing.

We ALL have to come together to create change in our small town.

We ALL have to take responsibility and ownership of how the town currently is and how we want to improve it.

Choose to SHOP LOCAL when and where you can.
Choose to SUPPORT small, independent businesses that are taking the risk and leap of faith to take up the empty shops.
Choose to BELIEVE that our Town Centre can be a thriving, vibing area where the community enjoy being.

Remember, this change won’t happen overnight, but we believe that the change will be worth the wait.

Monday morning positivity & transparency.

This weekend we had a couple of events over 3 days.

We LOVE events, the vibe, the people, the fun, all of it!

The events over the weekend didn’t bring as much to the business as we anticipated financially - and of course, that is huge thing atm with regards to the shop.

We could absolutely be sat wallowing and being annoyed at this matter but you know that isn’t our view AT ALL.

There are so many other things that have come from the events this weekend that have been so positive for the business.

☕️ We have stock that will see us into the coming week so our ordering can now be more streamlined
☕️ We booked another event for this month and one for next month
☕️ We spoke to another local business about potentially serving our House Blend

Outside of the business..

🤍 We found a great new hobby for our resident doggo
🤍 The resident baby had her first ride on a merry-go-round
🤍 We spent time together in the glorious weather, surrounded by stunning views

A huge Thank You to the hosts of the events over the weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed them 😍

Let this post be a reminder that when things start to change for the better, it can feel uncomfortable until you pass through the discomfort and into something new and better than you thought.
