Customising capsaicin is the very core component of Dr Woodman’s current research at the University of Bath. In our first episode of Pharmacast, we will delve into exactly what changes he’s making to the naturally occurring chemical and how they could improve capsaicin’s future in cancer therapy.
Check out our stories to find out more on the podcast’s release date and content!
Thank you all so much for your amazing questions so far. We want to answer as many questions as possible in our upcoming episode, so keep sending them in!
If you’re new here - have a scroll down our feed and find out all about capsaicin and cancer research.
Monday mornings are hard, so we’ll give you a break from super-scientific stuff today. Here’s a little bit about our resident researcher Dr Tim Woodman.
Dr Woodman has been at the University of Bath for over 15 years now. He is a wonderful chemist and pharmacologist, now conducting his research in capsaicin modifications.
Don’t worry - we’ll explain what that actually means very soon.
Dr Woodman will be participating in our podcast to answer all of your questions about his capsaicin research. This is an amazing opportunity to get information on the university’s research straight from the source, so be sure to tune in!

# cancer
Time to start pulling all of this knowledge together. This research is really exciting, but needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Capsaicin/ chillis are not a ‘superfood’ and have not been proven to be cancer-preventative.
We simply know that capsaicin can kill lab-grown cancer cells - but that’s something to be a little excited about 🥳.

Maybe not the happiest topic for a Saturday morning, but an important one nonetheless. Metastasis is a huge determining factor for how well cancer treatments can work. Stay tuned to find out how this relates to capsaicin 🌶

Why are we talking about curry in our upcoming episode? Because it’s tasty … obviously.
Actually it’s because we will be discussing work done at the University of Bath on capsaicin. Stay tuned to find out more about what capsaicin is, what it has to do with curry and how it affects cancer.
We promise to cut the jargon 🤝
