Final block of online Pilates of 2023 starting this evening at 7.30pm 🤸🏻‍♀️ the recording will also be available so let me know if you’d like to join!

Pilates is a great low impact form of exercise which strengthens and tones the body with particular focus around the core (where our fundamental movements come from). It has so many benefits from posture control and reducing pain (especially back pain) to improving strength and endurance as well as numerous mental health benefits, allowing you to focus on breathwork and allowing your body and mind to work as one.

My classes are open to all levels and we gradually start off the block gently and build up as we progress through the 6 weeks. For more info or to join this evening drop me a message or comment below!

£6 per session or £32 for the block 🌈

23/09/2023

The new block of Pilates is underway but you’re not too late to sign up 🤸🏻‍♀️ Tuesday evenings 7.30-8.30pm or catch up with the recordings in your own time. Message me for more details xo

Update 💫 online Pilates WILL be returning this month. I have needed the time away to settle into working life and a new city but I now cannot wait to start teaching again. Comment below if you’d like to get involved and what evening 7.30-8.30pm (Monday or Tuesday) would suit you best!

Wee life update 💫
A few weeks ago, after many months of trying to figure out what to do I made the decision to retire from pentathlon and full-time athlete life - it was by no means an easy decision to make but I know it was totally the right one for me at that time. In a whirlwind of a week I also began a new job working within sports marketing at an agency based in London so I’m now splitting my time between London and Bath and trying to find that work/ life /exercise/ socialising balance! While I try to figure all that out I’ve put a hold on most of my Pilates classes including my online class (which will be restarting again as soon as I get settled into this new life!). I will however, be continuing teaching in the mean time for my delightful Thursday morning class at 7.45-8.30am. Although I’d love to be teaching more classes (especially after completing the third and final module of my women’s health qualification, Pilates and The Pelvic Floor) for now it’s just going to have to be the one so I can make sure the classes I do teach are of the highest quality. So get your alarms set and come along to join me on the mat on Thursdays at this beautiful studio and we’ll make sure we start our day the right way 🤸🏻‍♀️

10/01/2023

Pilates tomorrow evening will be online 6.30-7.30pm and will be £6 to join. We’re going to be working on the full body so will be a great one to get back into some movement after a big Christmas or after illness (I know so many of you have been struck down by this horrid bug!) message me if you’d like to join live or like the recording to catch up with later on x

02/01/2023

Happy new year to you all and apologies for being quiet over the festive period. Hope you all had a great time with family and friends. I’m delighted to say that my online class is returning this Wednesday at 6.30-7.30pm. This month it will be pay as you go only so pop in on Wednesday without worrying about committing to a whole block. Comment below or drop me a message to join live or for the recording xo

19/12/2022

This weeks online class has been pre-recorded so if you signed up for the 6 week block it should be in your inbox this morning. If you would like to purchase the recording (it’s a great one for the core!) for £5 to do in your own time (and as often as you like) comment below or drop me a message ☺️ I’ve had the best year teaching you all so thank you!! And wishing you all a very merry Christmas 🎄

12/12/2022

This Wednesday (6.30-7.30) will be my final live class of the year (there will be a pre recorded class the following week for anyone doing the block or would like some extra Pilates over the festive period)
To celebrate (almost) a year of live classes I’d love to get as many old and new members to come along to celebrate and to wear something festive to get in the Christmas spirit 🎄
The class is going to be focused on the glutes but we’ll make sure you get a full body work out as well. Comment below or drop me a message if you’re not signed up to this block and you’d like to join 👇 see you on Wednesday! X

Just 3 weeks of classes left before we break up for Christmas, where on earth does time go?! 🎄

At this time of year it’s sometimes hard to stick to our usual routine and life can often get away from us. Dark nights and mornings also make it hard to get outdoors to exercise. If you’re finding it hard to find the time to exercise why not try my pay as you go online Pilates classes which are always recorded so if you can’t join live you have the option to do them anytime and from anywhere. Perfect for those busy, dark winter evenings or when your social calendar fills up and you want the option to train at a time that suits you. I guarantee that doing even just doing one hour of Pilates a week will help your overall mood, improve your sleep and generally keep your body conditioned and toned (and if you get the recordings you can download and repeat them as often as you like all for the same price!) drop me a message for more info 🥰

30/11/2022

This evening’s online class is going to be upper body and posture focused. If you’re joining at 6.30 make sure you’ve got your trust tins handy (or small weights) and you’ll be in for a great work out! 6.30-7.30pm. Shout if you’d like to join for a drop in ☺️

29/11/2022

To start of our new online block this evening we’ve got a lovely glute/hip class. It’s really important we work these muscle groups to help find postural alignment, particularly through the pelvis, to protect our lower back and our lower legs and to make sure we’re activating them properly for propulsion when we walk and run. Message me if you’d like to join and are not yet on my mailing list 🤗🍑

13/11/2022

New online block, starting on Wednesday, 6.30-7.30pm. Option for 5 week or 6 week block (but the final class of the 6 week will be a recorded class). Hands up if you’re in! Will send an email out tomorrow xo

06/11/2022

There won’t be any Pilates on this week unfortunately (in person or live streamed) but I’ve pre recorded a lower back mobility/ stability class. If anyone (who’s not signed up for the block) would like the recording drop me a message and it’ll be in your inbox tomorrow! £5 for the recording. X

26/10/2022

Who’s going to flow with Jo this evening?! 6.30-7.30pm. It’s going to be a good one 💪🏼🍑

25/10/2022

Tonight at Widcombe Social Club we’ll be working out the whole body with the main focus around our core. It’ll be a great class for posture retraining, stability around the pelvis and lower back and toning around the shoulder, abdominas and glutes 🍑 see you there!

24/10/2022

Pilates is a great option if you’re looking for a low impact form of exercise to strengthen and tone your core. You’re core doesn’t just mean you’re tummy but it incorporates everything around your middle from your hips and back to your glutes and pelvis and everything in between. Strengthening the core is hugely important for posture, balance and stability and will provide a great base to work other muscle groups. This is why Pilates is so great if you’ve got existing injuries or to compliment other activities.
If you want to give it a go and see how Pilates is for you this is the schedule for the week:
Tuesday 7.30-8.30pm Widcombe Social Club (Bath)
Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm online
Thursday 7.45-8.30am (Bath)
Come along and move with me or message me to book in for a 1-2-1.

💬 Joseph Pilates.
A week or so late with but exercise can be hugely positive for your mental health. During exercise endorphins are released from the brain (known as the feel good hormone) and are also linked to better concentration and a clearer mind. Exercise is also a great way to de-stress and can help improve sleep quality. Even if it’s just going out for a 30 minute walk a day, it can have huge benefits for your mental wellbeing and physical health. WHAT’S STOPPING YOU?! 💪🏼

18/10/2022

Pilates in Bath - this is my venue at Widcombe Social Club where I teach my Tuesday night class. It’s a brilliant venue and I’ve got a great wee group. Love how many people I’ve got to meet (online and in person) through teaching 🥰

17/10/2022

Pilates tomorrow night 7.30-8.30pm Widcombe Social Club is also going to be upper body focussed. Still spaces left to join if you fancy an evening workout! 🤗

17/10/2022

Wednesday online Pilates is going to have an upper body focus, working on the arms, shoulders and back muscles. If you’re joining you’ll need either 2 small weights or some tins from the kitchen cupboard. Look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

12/10/2022

If you’re joining this evenings class you’ll need a head cushion and a band (both are optional!). If you don’t have the link to join message me before 6.20pm and I’ll send it over (it’ll be the same one as last week). And if you can’t make it don’t worry, I will send over the recording after class. ☺️ see you later!

09/10/2022

My Pilates classes this week are all going to have a glute and oblique focus (working on our rotary stabilisers). These are both really important muscle groups to provide stability to the pelvis, lower back, hips and knees and will be really important for functional activities like walking, running and climbing the stairs and for anyone practising rotary sports such as racquet sports and golf (to name just a few).
Classes this week:
Tuesday 7.30-8.30pm Widcombe Social Club (Bath)
Wednesday 6.30-7.30pm online via zoom
Thursday 7.45-8.30am Robyns Yoga Studio (Bath)
Every class will be adapted to suit you (my clients) but the focus will remain the same throughout the week.

08/10/2022

Did you know that you can increase muscle activation by changing where you put your soft ball (or you can do the same with a folded cushion). Placing the ball between your knees energises your anterior oblique sling, firing up your inner thigh muscles to provide force closure/ stability around the front of the pelvis (the p***c symphysis). If we move the ball between the ankles we ignite our posterior, glute max muscle, providing stability around the back of the pelvis (the sacroiliac joint). Why not play around with this in your own practice and see for yourself how the ball can play a part in stabilising the pelvis.
Pelvic stability plays an important role in day to day activity to provide support for the lower extremities, the hips and the lower back keeping them healthy and strong and preventing injury or pain.

It’s been a very busy week here. Started teaching at Widcombe Social Club on Tuesday, new online block on Wednesday and began classes at Robyn’s Yoga Studio today 🤸🏻‍♀️ on top of all of these great classes I’ve also started my ante and post natal CPD course so I can’t wait to help lots of mummies and mummies to be very soon 🤰loved having my online group back with some brand new members and meeting lots of lovely people face to face with my classes 🥰

05/10/2022

Great fun Widcombe Social Club last night teaching my first Pilates class here. We focused on our deep core activation, glutes and shoulders as a nice intro/ refresher into Pilates. (Ps we forgot to take any pictures so we had to improvise later on 😅)
