Great night last night thanks Tim
Dear Friends -
If you will be passing The Trinity Inn, Bath on James Street West tomorrow night around 9PM (or after) do stop by and enjoy some live music. My band FIXER will be playing, and it’s going to be a big deal for us.
Until 10 years ago, we used to play about 20 gigs /year in and around Herts/Beds/Cambs, but the last time was in October 2014 when life “happened” (including Jupiter a couple of years later).
We started talking again during COVID-19, online of course, and even did a little remote recording together. But then life struck again and Gareth, our singer, had the misfortune to get sepsis while in Spain during a “travel corridor” in August 2020. He woke up in Badelona hospital after 10 days in a coma, having already had open heart surgery to rebuilt a valve destroyed by the bacteria. He’d had a stroke, an amputation, and was largely blind. The sepsis bacteria is serious.
Many operations, appointments and struggles later, tomorrow night, he will perform his first band gig since his illness. We are thrilled at his recovery. In September 2020 he was told he would probably not be able to live independently again, let alone sing in a band. And yet here we are. It’s a remarkable achievement.
We will also welcome Mike to the band on keyboards, our former bandmate Marley having decided not to continue in 2014 (although he kindly did the poster for us!) Mike, Jason (drums) and I were at KES together here in Bath a long time ago, so it'll be a pleasure to play again in our home town.
We are sure everyone who comes will have a great time. Dare I say it, 10 years ago, we were a pretty good band, and while this will be our first outing for a very long time, it’s a very special occasion, and I am sure we will rise to meet it.
If you enjoy modern(ish) indie rock (Foo Fighters, Chill Peppers, Stereophonics, Killers, etc.) do pop in for a drink and some music. I’d love to see you there!
Julian
Good Work Boys!!!
These two lads knocked on my door this morning asking very politely if they can wash my car for £5 as they are saving money for the ski trip. It’s so nice to see young lads making a good use of their free time, learning at young age that earning cash can be a hard graft. I can’t even stress how happy I am to see them doing this, rather than hanging around the parks, smoking crap and causing nuisance. I’m going to ask them to clean my van too. They said they are being turned down 99% of the time so it’s really hard but they are not giving up. Damn I admire their attitude ⭐️
I strongly suggest, if you see these lads and you don’t want them to touch your Ferrari, just tip them a couple of quid to clean your front door or something. I don’t even care how my car is going to look like when they’re finished. I am tipping them so heavily, they are in for a surprise. Well done lads 👏🏼👏🏼
