Our latest is called "Humans vs Nature: Bridging the Gap", a piece of writing by Jessica Kashdan-Brown on the separations we have constructed between humans and Nature, and how we might go about deconstructing them.
As always, please feel free to leave thoughts and comments here and/or on the blog page.
Humans vs Nature: Bridging the Gap A piece of writing on the separations we have constructed between humans and Nature. Back in my first year of university, I had a very memorable introductory lecture on “Ecocriticism”, a subject I’d never heard of before but was excited about. Writing about human relationships with Nature and ...
We have another out today! This one is all about a recent design competition that Kashdan Brown Architects won - a call for sculptural designs provoking conversations about climate change. New alert!!!
If you're wondering how we've been getting on with our tree-planting project, here's a little update from Julia!
https://www.ourhouseisonfire.co.uk/post/planting-trees-part-2
Planting Trees: Part 2 Here we are in February 2021. Despite the new lockdown and need for more resilience to weather this pandemic, I feel a sense of optimism - Having set out to plant 360 trees (If you haven't read Part 1 yet, you can read it here ), we have now planted 290 trees with 70 to go!
"Writing and keeping a journal can be an extremely beneficial process for your mental health. Taking the time and space to remove yourself from the virtual world, put a pen to paper, and just write can be an amazing way to re-center and ground yourself, and to relieve stress — and those are only a few of the benefits."
Jessica has been busy writing blog posts for The Climate Journal Project, but fear not, we haven't forgotten about the Our House Is On Fire blog. We have an update on our tree planting project coming very soon, and a couple of other things so keep your eyes peeled!
6 Benefits of Journaling How Journaling Can Help Us Process the Climate Crisis
Need a Saturday pick-me-up? Here's some positive news...
Biden is a man with a clear, green plan: “It’s more than people thought they would do...It’s comprehensive and coherent. Breathtaking really is the word.”
‘Breathtaking’: what Joe Biden’s sweeping climate plan means for Scott Morrison As the US president vows to push the rest of the world to do more on climate change, the prime minister will face increasing pressure to measure up
We're sorry we've been so quiet recently. We have something new and exciting in the works, but in the meantime, Jessica Kashdan-Brown has been writing a blog for The Climate Journal Project!
Her latest post is all about why climate anxiety is a completely normal response to the climate crisis, and how you can cope with it if you're experiencing it. 💚🌿

It's time for a new post! This one is all about food...
https://www.ourhouseisonfire.co.uk/post/vegan-vegetarian-recipes
Maybe you had some cracking meals planned for Christmas and New Year's Day and now you're a little stumped, maybe you're trying out and are looking for inspiration, or maybe you're just a food-lover like me - in any case, this blog post is a collection of some of our favourite and recipes we want to share with you!
This post is a little different. It's a bit more like a database than a blog post, as we're hoping to add to it over the coming months.
If you have any favourite vegan or vegetarian you'd like to share with us, please do comment or drop us a message!
Vegan & Vegetarian Recipes: Our Favourites Cooking inspiration for decreasing meat, fish, and dairy consumption. I want this space to be more of a database than a traditional blog post, and I will be updating it semi-regularly, using it as a way to keep track of and share some of our family's absolute favourite vegan and vegetarian recipes.
The Serpentine Gallery is hosting this event over this weekend.
It's completely free and is a 2-day event exploring "the understory" - soil, mushrooms, and whatever else the "understory" entails, through perspectives of ecology, art, poetry, music, architecture, anthropology, and much more.
Don't worry if you missed yesterday's event, because they have another full programme today from 12:00 - 5:45.
You can view the programme here:https://themind.fish/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/The_Shape_of_a_Circle_in_the_Mind_of_a_Fish_The_Understory_of_the_Understory-FINAL.pdf

This week's post is a continutation from last week's post about the need for positivity in our thinking about climate change.
This week I share with you some of the places, projects, groups and resources I've discovered over the past few months that have brought some much-needed Climate Positivity to my life.
Please do get in touch to share your own positive projects and discoveries with us!

It's time for another post!!!
This week we have a blog about the need for positivity in our thinking about climate change.
Tired of seeing horrible things about climate change on social media? Feeling overwhelmed by it all? We want to help change that:

Overcoming Climate Defeatism Overcoming Climate Defeatism. Why scare tactics and calls to global action are not helping us to mitigate the environmental crisis at home.
Our first blog post is live!
We're kicking off the website with a blog about our big tree-planting project. We've put a lot of thought over these past months into finding something that we can do that's big, impactful, and can be done from home. Tree-planting seemed like the perfect fit.
We've also put a lot of thought into how many trees to plant, why, and where. Julia Kashdan-Brown is the author of our first post, and she tells us all about how the project came to be: https://www.ourhouseisonfire.co.uk/post/planting-trees-part-1
