I recently had the pleasure of working with Sara, and I'm so proud of what we were able to accomplish together. Sara struggled with letting items go that may "come in handy one day". This resulted in an overflowing airing cupboard with boxes of old towels.

We used the magic number trick to determine what Sara and her family actually needed, then we found a local animal shelter to donate the rest of the towels to, so Sara was comfortable that they weren't being thrown into landfill.

Now Sara has an organised cupboard where everything is easily accessible. I also learnt a new way to roll towels- thank you Sara 🤩

I love sharing all things home and organisation with you, but today I wanted to introduce myself.

Hi 👋🏻 I'm El, I launched THM on my birthday 2 years ago. Since then I have had so much fun decluttering, organising and being nosey in your homes.

From a young age I was very independent (I wouldn't let anyone feed me, I was determined to do it myself, even though I ended up with food all over my face). Fast forward and my independence turned to a passion to want to help people whilst working for myself, and boom The Home Method was born.

A little bit about me: I love walking, dogs, yummy food and recently have been doing my best attempt at being a surfer girl 🏄🏻‍♀

4 Reasons to Downsize

TIME- downsizing your possessions will mean you can find things the first time. You’ll have less responsibilities which will free up time for things you actually want to do.

COST- Smaller bills & maintenance costs.

SPACE- you’ll become more conscious of the spaces you actually use. Downsizing your possessions can give you much more space.

FREEDOM- less to-do’s + less responsibilities = more freedom.

On average we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time, which leaves 80% of our clothes left unworn except on rare occasions.

One of the main reasons for this is a lack of effective storage solutions and too many clothes. This means you can’t see or access your clothes easily so you don’t wear them.

Here is an easy, cheap and effective example of vertical storage. The client can now see all of her shoes and is more likely to wear them, rather than grabbing the same pair everyday.
