How lovely to have sold an original painting and some prints this week. All to someone who liked some of my greetings cards.
So this is 50!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...
Working in monochrome today, sometimes it's good to strip it all back to basics.
Extreme close up! Busy buzzy bumble bee. Scroll for the beautiful flower borders at Château de Compiègne.
Good night.
À Paris il pleut!
Yesterdays painting done in the car because it was so windy. Valley of rocks, Devon. Such a strange landscape, it doesn't seem like England.
Today I spent the day sketching on the beach at Ilfracombe. I also had a short, freezing cold swim in the sea.
Stopped on my way across Exmoor this afternoon, the weather was pretty bad, very windy and rather wet so I painted in the car with my canvas propped on the steering wheel. Not sure if it's finished, I might add some foliage in the foreground.
This is Celia, I painted her in 1996 in my final year at the University of Brighton. She had terribly arthritic hands (that's why they look this way), I remember her rubbing them together to soothe them, she would shell peas, peel onions, feed her many animals all with these hands, hands that had done a lifetime of hard work. Celia was a farmer, we used to go and stay on her farm in Devon in the holidays and on long weekends. It was always full of her very large family and I would play with her many grandchildren. It was a wonderful, magical, carefree place where we were ferrel. I fed lambs, held chicks, cuddled cats, stroked the pig. Got snowed in and searched for easter eggs. Sadly Celia, her husband Peter and their farm are no longer with us (the farm is derilict, a travesty). But the memories live on, and so does this painting, oil on paper. Some of her grandchildren are on here so this is for you, Mark, Heidi and Charlotte... and the rest of your clan. X
Thank you NHS 75 years! Thank you for the surgeries, the treatments, the births of my 2 children, the immunisations, the fixing of my broken arm, the GP visits, the prescriptions, the care. I sincerely hope this incredible institution will continue to be free to us all. I am already finding things that are no longer available on the NHS that previously were: not least the dental treatment that we can no longer accesss. We must not let this erosion continue. The drawing is of my auntie Dinah who recently retired after a lifetime as a nurse, what a fabulous one she was too.
Here's the sister painting to Swan Yard Bunting, I love fairy lights and glowing shop windows in the evening, so pretty and a joy to paint. This one sold to the same chap who bought the other one.
Watercolour, pen and ink on Bockingford paper.
Here's the original painting which was made in to tiles as posted at the weekend. Swan Yard, Cirencester. Painted in Watercolour Pen & Ink whilst sitting in the shade of the archway at the end of the yard.
Throwback to when a gift company used a bunch of my paintings on large ceramic tiles, this one is nearly A3 size. I found it in a box whilst unpacking from house renovations. I hadn't seen it in years. I feel I should use it in the house, but where?
Gromiteers will not want to miss these lots. Laura Fearn - Artist has kindly donated these ORIGINAL Gromit Unleashed vibrant watercolour paintings to The Grand Aard Auction. You may recognise one of these paintings as the image used for our best-selling jigsaw.
Who wouldn’t want one of these Bristol beauties hanging on their wall?

A few days working and swimming in the sea in Dorset...
I spent a lovely day painting on Exmoor yesterday. Glorious weather, sunny all day with a gentle breeze, perfect.
Phew! I managed to get my entry for the Downton Abbey Poster competition done in 5 hours with 2 minutes to spare. I have been so busy with work lately, I couldn't do it before now.
I have illustrated two space maps for David Goodin's Sci-Fi books "Reckoning of Delta Prime" and "Cassidy's Fleet". I loved creating these pieces from David's imagination to my paper.
Sad to hear Betty Davis has died. I only painted her last month. RIP Queen of Funk.

I am so happy because my new tile by has just arrived and I absolutely love it.
Today is Gromit’s Birthday. We first met him in 1989. Here’s a throwback to when I designed Swallows and Amazons Gromits for Gromit Unleashed raising money for The Grand Appeal.
Incase any of you are wondering what Redbubble is: it's a print on demand site which means I can upload my designs and they print them as and when someone orders the products. It means I don't have to buy lots of products and store them. This means three things: I'm not outlaying a load of money on things I may not sell and they do the post and packing for me which means I don't have to stand in a queue at the post office, it also means I can still sell stuff when the shops I usually sell in are closed, hoorah! This is my latest beach hut design, yes, I am still dreaming of the sea! https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/70029842
