Cycle teaching at your pace ~ lessons, Islabikes rentals, rides and more.
This. Exactly this.
The choices you make impact on everyone. And often take choices away from those unable to advocate for themselves. Like our children.
'We need to challenge the unquestioned status of the car and our tendency to take the violence that it generates for granted. It threatens children’s right to independently roam public spaces. This directly threatens their long-term health and wellbeing.'

Anyone got an Islabike e-Janis in a size small they want to sell?
Do you ride a non-standard bike ie a trike/adapted bike/ cargo bike/electric bike or anything else?
Would you help the Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Bath with a project they are undertaking in?
If the answer is YES you would be needed:
9th Oct for 40 mins with your bike between 9-1pm
11th Oct either 3-4pm or 4-5pm
16th Oct for 30 mins between 9-12 midday with your bike.
All sessions take place at the Odd Down circuit, Bath BA2 2PR
I can help with transport of you and your bikes of necessary (if in the Bath/Bristol area).
You get a £20 Amazon voucher for your time.
You will talk to a group of 4-5 students about your riding and anything they could design to help you ride more or enjoy your riding more.
I need 4-5 more volunteers urgently :-)
PM me or email [email protected].
We know that people want to walk, wheel and cycle more of their everyday journeys 🚶♀️ 👨🦼 🚴♀️
However, inaccessible pavements, unsafe streets, poor links with public transport or the costs of bike ownership are preventing many from doing so.
The next UK Government, alongside local leaders, could change that. Read more about Sustrans 5 steps to improve our neighbourhoods, health and the economy here, and what you can do to help: 👇

Your claimed freedom to drive limits our children's right to breath.

Event coming this summer with Kidical Mass. Doing all I can to get more people riding for more miles more often :-)
One day we will realize the absurdity of prioritising the speed of cars, instead of the safety of our children.

When Bristol City Council identified a road junction next to a school in Easton to be pedestrianised, the school's PTA took this as an opportunity to apply for funding to create a safe and healthy environment.
After receiving a grant from The Road Safety Trust, Bannerman Road Community Academy PTA commissioned artist Bahbak Hashemi-Nezhad to consult and design a safe and playful space that engaged the local community.
Bahbak worked with the children at the school to creatively reimagine the area. Events were held with residents, including a street party 🥳 and temporary pizza 🍕restaurant, to include everyone in the design process.
Following this a new identity was co-created for the area - Frog Marsh. The new pedestrianised space had a raised table to slow traffic, improved lighting and signage and a museum of bollards – a playful collection of different bollards all painted the same colour that skirts the area, and a large, coloured surface to indicate a child-led space.
Sustrans were commissioned to evaluate the success and impact of the road closure and found that traffic around the school was recorded to have reduced by 68% across school drop off and collection times and a 29% increase in people saying they would now walk to the school!
