Thank you to all of our advertisers for their unwavering support of Club Review, and the club sector in general, and we encourage committees to utilise their services whenever possible.
It is with profound sadness that the Federation announce the passing of Nigel Blair.
Nigel was a regular contributor to our Club Review magazine for many years, right up until Issue 1 in February this year, but unfortunately his ill health meant that he could no longer continue to forward his editorials to us.
A professional musician himself, Nigel was a great promoter of local talent, both through his regular pages in the Review and also his very popular Fun Day Sunday show broadcast on Belfast 89Fm each weekend, and his untimely loss will be felt by a very wide section of our community.
Our condolences go out to his wife, Lily, and also his wider family circle at this very sad time.
TIME RUNNING OUT FOR NI CRICKET CLUBS TO WIN £1,000
KP Snacks NI warns clubs not to be bowled out by Friday August 2nddeadline
THE CLOCK IS TICKING for cricket clubs across Northern Ireland if they want to have a chance of winning a £1,000 cash prize this summer, as part of a KP Snacks (NI) campaign to support its partnership with blockbuster cricket competition The Hundred.
Exclusively in Northern Ireland, KP Snacks (NI) is offering local cricket clubs, at all levels, the chance to run away with £1,000 towards much needed cricket gear and equipment.
But organisers are urging clubs not to miss out as the closing date for submissions is fast approaching – with all entries to be received no later than 12 noon on Friday August 2nd, 2024.
To be in with a chance of winning, clubs from all across Northern Ireland are invited to email [email protected] and explain, in no more than 500 words, why they deserve to win £1,000 and how they would propose using the money to benefit their club or develop cricket in their area.
As the Official Team Partner for The Hundred, which runs from July 23 to August 18, KP Snacks is reaching out to local communities and encouraging more people to get active through cricket this summer.
KP Snacks Business Account Manager (Northern Ireland) Ricky Watts explains: “The Hundred has just started but the chance for local clubs in NI to win £1,000 will soon be gone. We really don’t want anyone to miss out, and we know lots of people go on holiday at this time of year, so we thought we’d remind everyone that the deadline for entries closes at 12 noon on Friday 2nd August.
"Cricket is a sport that brings communities together and at KP Snacks, we are passionate about building interest in the game AND getting people – and families – active through cricket, which in turn can have a positive mental and physical impact on those who play.
“We are committed to helping clubs grow and thrive, and we know that this £1,000 prize will provide valuable resources for clubs at levels to enhance their facilities, purchase new equipment, and run training or community outreach programs” he added.
A Hundred-themed on-pack promotion is currently running which gives shoppers the chance to win a Grand Prize of £10,000 or one of over a hundred daily £100 cash prizes – as well as cricket sets and vouchers for The Hundred shop. Available in stores now, the promotion is running across a selection of leading KP Snacks brands that feature on the shirts of the teams competing in The Hundred, including popchips, Butterkist, POM-BEAR, Tyrrells, KP Nuts, Hula Hoops, McCoy’s and Skips.
The Hundred is an action-packed televised 100-ball cricket tournament featuring world-class players and massive names from around the world, with eight women's and men's teams competing over four weeks.
KP Snacks (NI) owns some of the biggest Crisp, Snacks and Nuts brands in the Northern Ireland market, including McCoy’s, Hula Hoops, KP Nuts, Butterkist, Skips, Space Raiders, Discos, POM-BEAR, Nik Naks, Roysters, Frisps, Popchips, Tyrrells and Wheat Crunchies.

Remember our Fundraising Gig In Whitehouse Working Men's Club back in May
Well this just happened!!! 😃
An amazing donation of £6000 from Whitehouse Working Mens Club raised by James Rathcoole Bobby Higgins and Bryan Catherine Sheeran after a charity fundraising day in late May, to the Kevin Bell Repatriation trust in memory of Pamela Hefferon. A fabulous lady who is greatly greatly missed
Colin Bell, father of the late Kevin Bell accepted the donation for the charity in his sons memory. Colin made a very emotional speech and stated that since his sons death as a victim of a hit and run in New York in 2013, the charity has repatriated over 1000 souls.
Congratulations to our Chairman, John Davidson.
It is with great pride and admiration that we extend heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed Chairman,John Davidson, also the Treasurer of the Harland & Wolff Welders Football and Social Club, upon being awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for his exceptional services to the licensed trade.
John’s tireless dedication and unwavering commitment have not only strengthened the fabric of the club sector but have also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie within Northern Ireland. His leadership and vision have been instrumental in driving positive change, ensuring that clubs and social venues remain vibrant hubs of social interaction and support.
This prestigious recognition is a testament to John’s outstanding contributions and the high regard in which he is held by his peers and the broader community and this honour is richly deserved.
Once again, congratulations, John. Your achievements inspire us all, and we are profoundly grateful for your service and dedication.
Congratulations are extended to Roy McNaught who has been honoured with the Unsung Hero Award at the recent Sunday Life Spirit Awards.
This award is given to individuals whose significant contributions to a person or community have gone previously unrecognised. The award was presented by Blue Lights stars Dan Gordon and Paddy Jenkins.
Seventy-year-old Roy, from east Belfast, has transformed his passion for music into a charitable endeavour by founding Kids in Need Charity Promotions. This organisation features local cabaret artists who freely perform to raise funds for charities such as Cancer Fund for Children, Autism NI, Tearfund, and the Air Ambulance.
Roy is regarded as a key figure in his community. Despite losing his wife in 1998 and his best friend more recently, he remains dedicated to his philanthropic efforts and continues to support those in need.
Congratulations, Roy, from all your friends in the Federation and clubland community. Your award is well-deserved, and we wish you continued success in your future fundraising endeavours.
A great time performing in the Monte Carlo Casino cabaret with a young Rose Marie. RIP
