Let's face it...this summer has been pish weather wise, so we have decided to bring a taste of a sunnier summer for all of August.

This week's special on the Mediterranean theme is our Big Fat Greek Bagel.

Tzatziki, a chopped Greek salad (feta, olives, tomato, red onion and lemon zest), rocket and shredded chicken (optional).

We will have our fresh baked bagels, schmears, a full deli bagel menu, and our Boulder Cookies 🍪 WIP will have your açai bowls, coffee and macha sorted.

Trademarket has been our second home for the past 2 years, and we are so sad to see it go. Not only is it an almighty blow for us, but an even bigger blow for Belfast and hospitality in this city. 

This is our last full week in , before we return for our final weekend on the 13th/14th. Make sure to come down and see us and the rest of our incredible Trademarket fam for one last hurrah!

Of course we will still be up and running in Banana Block as normal, but also keep an eye out for summer pop-ups, events and other exciting future plans 👀🤞🏻

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for La Dolce Vita Afternoon Tea yesterday, we hope you had as much fun as we did!

We had everything from canollis to tiramisu, meatballs to maritozzi buns and of course mini bagels - our incredible bakery duo Nicole and Kim truly pulled out all the stops! A special thank you to .greeneast for decorating the space with their beautiful olive trees and for the delicious foccaccia!

The brilliant Tara from The Little Yoga House will be joining us this Thursday to provide a mum and tots yoga taster session! The first session will begin at 10.30am. Please note, this class is suitable for up to crawling. Please ensure to bring a yoga mat with you if you would like to join as we won't have any spares on the day. 

We expect this to be a busy one so get down early!

HOT BAGELS HAVE LANDED IN BANANA BLOCK 🥓🍳

After working behind the scenes to get hot food in Banana Block for TWO AND A HALF YEARS it's finally here.

We have all of your Trademarket hot bagel favorites, as well as our deli bagels that you know and love! Swipe for the menu ⏩⏩⏩

This means that our menus for both spots are finally the same (minus coffee which is available in Banana Block). Sorry to everyone who came to Banana Block for bacon and had to trek over to Trademarket in the past - thankfully that is now a thing of the past!

We have levelled up our brunch offering in the East and we couldn't be more excited! We want this to be the ultimate breakfast drop-in spot - come down with your mates from 10am, grab your coffee and bagels and either pull up a pew in the Banana Ring or take it to go. As always, we will be open Wednesday to Sunday every week.

We can't wait to welcome you to the new and improved Bodega Bagels in Banana Block soon!

Another reminder about our Parents & Tots Group, taking place every Thursday morning from 10am-12pm .

Grab a cup of tea and one of our freshly baked bagels with butter for just £2, or add some schmear (cream cheese) for an extra £1.

Initially launched for those on maternity/paternity leave to call down and catch-up with other new parents, we are delighted that's it's grown to be even bigger and better with loads of grandparents, aunts, uncles and more coming down with newborns and toddlers too.

It's a safe space to let your wee ones cry or fuss, for you to feed and for everyone to feel part of a community.

We have colouring in and jigsaw puzzles for the older siblings too, as well as a table tennis table for you to use free of charge.

Working from home is great, but it can be lonely and isolating. Although making the effort to actually make it into the office for 9am on a Wednesday is not always appealing either.

So we are creating a middle ground. Banana block WFH (Work From Here) Wednesdays. Free fast WiFi, unlimited hot drink refills to power you through that report or presentation. We will have lo-fi music on the get you in the zone.

Also the perfect study space for those in the midst of it right now. Pull your tables together and make it a group study.

We interrupt your bagel programming for a special update.

Since Kirsty and I founded Bodega in 2021, we have never really posted anything personal on our socials. It wasn't a conscious decision at the time and many small business pages do it and do it so well, often hillariously. It's just not something we have ever been personally massively comfortable with (helps having a very fun - and of course incredibly photogenic - team as well).

So excuse this personal ramble just this one time, but we have to make a small but also massive announcement.

Last week, Kirsty and I welcomed a perfect baby girl into the world. Every cliche is completely true. We are over the moon, our hearts have grown, and until they're here, you can't imagine the instant impact they have on you.

I wanted to announce it here as a small business owner. I don't get any paternity leave, but I am taking a few weeks out, at least as much as possible. We have built a team at Bodega full of people who are better than me, and I can take a small step away and not have to worry. If you come into or , you won't even be able to tell.

If you are looking catering orders etc we are still banging these out on the daily but you may get a reply from me a day or two later than usual (but still in good time) or a reply at 4am (IYKYK). Sames goes for any messages on here, I will reply but might take a little longer than usual.

Please be patient and nice to the team, as you always are. They're doing their jobs and a bit of my job now too.

Most importantly, please continue to support small local delis, bakeries and coffee shops now more than ever. Times are tough. A few quid in our till makes a bigger impact than a few quid in a global chains till. It goes to build her a life.

Thank you always for making this dream of ours a reality and for reading my ramble.
