๐Ÿงก EXCITING BABY NEWS! ๐Ÿงก Some of our recent visitors may have noticed two tiny orange bundles of joy amongst our Franรงoisโ€™ Langur group. ๐Ÿ’ Keepers were delighted to discover that experienced mothers Nicolene and Chua were pregnant, and we are happy to confirm that both little ones have arrived safe and sound. Franรงoisโ€™ Langurs are classified as endangered with fewer than 500 individuals believed to be left in Vietnam and 1,400โ€“1,650 in China. Belfast Zoo works in collaboration with the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) and has now welcomed over 20 babies. The first of the most recent additions was born to mum Nicolene at the end of November last year and is now beginning to explore independently. Chuaโ€™s baby was born at the beginning of January and is still clinging tightly to mum. AJ is the proud father of both. The new babies can be spotted with their family outside around the Monkey Loop. They are currently living next door to our Goodfellowโ€™s Tree Kangaroos. What's so funny? ๐Ÿคฃ The laughing kookaburra has been nicknamed the โ€˜bushmanโ€™s alarm clockโ€™ as it calls at dawn and dusk to mark the individualโ€™s territory. โฐ The call sounds like a series of trills, chortles, shrieking laughs and hoots. It starts and ends with a low chuckle. Make sure to look out for them in the Rainforest House when you next visit! ๐Ÿ“ท Marketing Maria
